While he has an impeccable basketball resume, his ownership ordeals might be even better. Since retirement, Magic Johnson has taken to many different facets to expand his business. However, his most expansive reach remains in the area he built his legacy. That is the world of sports. Whether it be the WNBA, the MLB, or even the NFL now, the Los Angeles Lakers legend has found success in every league.
But, after a minor stint with his Lakers team, he never got into the ownership ranks of the NBA. Until now.

Even though he was briefly in an ownership capacity with Los Angeles, he quickly gave it up. To not go against his favorite team, Johnson refrains from taking up another ownership spot. Talking to ESPN, however, the 5-time NBA Champion had a major confession to make. According to him, he had given up opportunities with a lot of potential teams.
Among them, were the Detroit Pistons, the Atlanta Haws, and the juggernaut Golden State Warriors. But, in lieu of not opposing the Lakers franchise, he gave up each opportunity.
But, the New York Knicks are an offer too enticing.
With Madison Square Garden – The Mecca of Basketball to watch over, and a rabid fanbase, Magic finds similarities in that opportunity. In his interview, he went into detail about his thought process.
“I love coming to New York and going to the Garden and watching the Knicks play. I love being with fans who are so passionate about their team and the Knick fans are, and they’re smart…Other than that, I would probably never think about ever being a part of another franchise.”
Perhaps, after finding success in every other sport, the 3-time Champion is the balm a despondent Knicks franchise needs.
Magic Johnson’s sports empire

It is the first ownership stake away from Los Angeles for the greatest point guard ever. And, it seems like he’s already working his Magic.?
Since taking over the Dodgers, the team has won every NL West Championship bar one. Similarly, the Commanders got off to a hot 2-0 start after barely winning 8 games last season. Whether it is the Magic?effect or not remains uncertain.
