John Salley’s candid account: Scottie Pippen’s first meeting with Larsa

In an honest recollection, four-time NBA champion John Salley recalls Scottie Pippen’s initial meeting with Larsa. Salley says that he and Scottie were both on their boats when the latter first noticed Larsa. When Scottie was out on his 52-foot Blue Water boat, he sailed by another vessel and saw Larsa on board. Scottie, intrigued, steered the boat back to her and initiated contact.

Recalling the incident, Salley said, “He passed her father yacht with her on a yacht, Scotty turned the boat around and followed it and wanted to talk to her.”

However, her father cautioned Scottie to keep a distance. In spite of initial setbacks, Pippen persisted in his efforts to befriend Larsa, and the two finally became close.
