Very few second-round draft picks garner the hype that Bronny James has received in the past few months. Some might even say it is the cause of the scrutiny that the Lakers rookie has received since the big move. One of the critics of the young talent is Kwame Brown since the first summer league game. But there was a time when he was also a young player in the league, and at the time, represented Michael Jordan’s team. During the spell with the Wizards, Brown tried to man up against one of his teammates. Only to fail hilariously.
“His hero is Jordan, his Nemesis is Jordan, but his real nemesis is Oakley.” Gilbert Arenas revealed with whom Brown wanted to square up. In order to settle some score with veteran Charles Oakley, the 42-year-old took the help of some alcohol, five shots to be precise. Unfortunately, Michael Jordan saw that, and Arenas told about His Airness’s response. “Hey h-, what your a– over here doing h-?” Brown, however, ignored MJ and drank his liquor back-to-back, and once again received a hilarious response.
“He (Michael Jordan) peeped it like ‘Oh, you try to get some courage huh?’ Oakley downstairs,” Gilbert Arenas said via The Underground Lounge podcast. Further stating that Brown quickly sobered up once he heard that the veteran Oakley was downstairs. A tough time for young Brown off the court, which now LeBron James’ son is going through, is facing on the court. But the former Wizards star is not happy with the efforts and called him out for “coasting” along in the games.

“He don’t have an offensive rhythm right now so, sh-t, be young.” The 42-year-old spoke about Bronny James on his YouTube Channel. “Nobody can control you being able to run. But I see a kid just coasting because he has a guaranteed contract. Anybody else in that position would be cut.” The same issue regarding the Lakers #9, Brown had raised before as well.
A few months ago, he praised Michael Jordan for not cheating the game and drafting his kids for the Wizards. “You think MJ didn’t have the power to bring both of his boys to the Washington Wizards? Come on now. He never would cheat the game like this.” That’s why he was upset about Bronny James receiving a four-year contract. But the criticism did not begin there, it started back in July.

Michael Jordan’s first recruit had a scathing response to Bronny James
After a historic draft for the James household, the first summer game for Bronny James couldn’t come sooner. In his first game, Bronny scored 2 but attempted only 9 shots and failed to convert the majority of them. Thus, ended his night with shooting 0% from the 3-point line and 0% from FT, plus an injury that ruled him out of game 2. That was enough for Kwame Brown, who was the 2001 #1 draft pick for the Wizards.
“Bronny James don’t seem to have that dog in him.” On his YouTube channel Kwame Brown Bust Life, he did not spare Lebron James either. “Your daddy talked a lot of stuff, Bronny and unfortunately, because of what your daddy said, we in the media going to be critiquing you.” Some might think it wasn’t a fair assessment of the 20-year-old’s first game. But that’s the pressure that Bronny James is carrying right now in the league.

Being the face of the Michael Jordan side too must have brought some pressure on Brown. But still, he continues to be a tough critic of Bronny and his performance. To be fair, the Lakers’ overall #55 draft pick is yet to set the world on fire. Maybe then, Brown might calm down, and take a few shots at Bronny James.
