Lyles’ comment gained the attention of several players, such as Devin Booker and Kevin Durant. Amidst all the noise and chaos surrounding his comment, the 7-time NBA champion supported the 26-year-old player. He said, “The world championships is where the Olympics are. That’s the World championship, and that’s what he is trying to say, and you can’t say this (NBA) is the World Championship just because you got people from all over the world”.
Giving an example of the time when Argentina beat the USA in the Olympics, Horry tried to justify his comment. He described how Argentina beat the best of the USA on the world stage. Well, he is not the only one. Here is the podcast for you to listen to the entire story.
Horry is not the only one who protects the champion. His explanation came after Shaquille O’Neal’s supportive words. While O’Neal was the first one to encourage Lyles, he was soon joined by other former NBA players.
