“I won’t comment on this until I speak with Shaunie, the person who started these rumors. When she’s ready for a real, woman-to-woman conversation, I’ll set the record straight.” In the latest podcast, Laura Govan had all the receipts regarding any previous relationship. The star of Basketball Wives also cleared the air about her recent appearance on the show and how Shaquille O’Neal’s ex-wife, Shaunie Henderson, was the one who started the conversation about the show.

Laura Govan said, “Shaunie actually DM’ed me and said that she wanted to clear up a rumor that she was the reason why I wasn’t on Basketball Wives.” Speaking to host Carlos King, Govan explained that Shaunie Henderson sent the message this year. “It’s a mutual thing and then on top of that um, the respect out of it and then when she DMed me that um, I was good I was like oh sh– , okay bet. So I started. The producers reached out, it was a whole process,” added Govan.

Earlier this year, the clip from the episode circulated on social media when Govan faced a confrontation on the show. Evelyn Lozada asked about the close bond that Govan and Shaunie Henderson shared. The former replied, “We were really close. I love Shaunie. Lov-ed Shaunie.” Then, Lozada would play the audiobook of the memoir Undefeated, where Shaquille O’Neal’s alleged relationship comes to light.

In the old recording played on the show, Shaunie Henderson said, “I got her on the phone and said, ‘I just saw all your messages to my husband.’” Later, Govan said during the episode, “Apparently, she’s talking about me. I’ll talk to her about it. It’s none of your business.” It has also been reported that this was also the reason why the producer of Basketball Wives didn’t want her on the show.

“But producers from before, and people from before on the show always told me that the issue was her (Shaunie Henderson),” Govan said to King in an exclusive interview. And it’s not the only previous rumor that the show dealt with.

Shaquille O’Neal’s love life dragged on the show

It was in 2023 when the Los Angeles Lakers legend was out with a 31-year-old internet personality. As per TMZ, “Shaquille O’Neal hit up an L.A. hot spot for dinner on Tuesday, and the NBA legend was joined by none other than internet personality Brittany Renner, but we’re told it was nothing more than two friends catching up.”

Once again, it was Evelyn Lozada who asked, this time directing her question to Renner. “I know you’re looking for a husband but is the husband Shaquille (O’Neal)?” Without hesitating, Renner put an end to the rumor, “No. He’s one of the people I’ve always talked to. He’s just a good guy, and that’s just kind of it. There’s really not much to it.”

Since his divorce from Shaunie Henderson, Shaquille O’Neal has kept his relationship under wraps. Many reports suggest Shaq has gone out with actress and author Karrine Steffans, and Swedish actress and model Dominica Westling. But the 4x NBA Champion hasn’t responded and confirmed any of the names. We will have to wait and see if he replies to Laura Govan about the message from Shaunie Henderson.
