Did Dwyane Wade's success hinge on his father's $73-a-week struggle and unwavering support?

Success is a result of perseverance on the right path, and sports demands it more than other domains. This is why most successful NBA legends speak of a mentor in their life, especially one within the family. The 3x NBA champion Dwyane Wade also has such a root that nourished him from early childhood, and it is his father Dwyane Wade Sr. With his dear son at the NBA pinnacle, he has finally opened up, reacting to the big honor.

It is the Instagram post of Wade Sr ahead of Father Prime’s statue unveiling what we are talking about. Previously, the two of them shared the stage for the Hall of Fame moment, portraying the emotional bond they share.

A proud father, as he is, captioned the post, “We’re beyond excited to witness a historic moment this weekend as my son Dwyane Wade’s makes his mark in the NBA! 🏀 It’s going to be a weekend full of unforgettable memories, and we can’t wait to be a part of it. Special announcement coming soon—stay tuned for something big!”

While you ponder that question here is one significance of the post you may miss out on. It is that this is the first big comment on his son’s historic moment in Miami since the $73 confession where Wade Sr goes on to say, “At one point I was getting $73 a week recollecting the hardships he had to face managing a family of seven. All of this was delivered by Wade Sr. despite grave poverty and an earning of $73 per week as he wondered, “I raised so many kids off $73, I don’t know how that sh-t happened.”

Since that shock wave on the internet, here goes another one the father-son duo is all set to break. Whatever it could be, they are breaking it together as they have been through all those tales of hardship.

The father-son bonding in the Wade family

It begins with the Wade siblings getting estranged from separated parents and a troubled mother. Fortunately for them, Wade Sr. took full responsibility for them and guided them alongside their step-brothers. He also ensured that Wade had the opportunity to study as well as train for his basketball which eventually got him to be the fifth-overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft. However, their relationships had more emotional connotations like Dwyane Wade has with the Heat.

Dwyane Wade Sr., as the legend himself says, was a source of discipline for him. As he quotes in an Oprah Winfrey show “he was militant” and they respected their pops. This makes Wade Sr. an indispensable part of the legend’s life to the extent of being named the “most important person” in his life in the Hall of Fame speech.

The HOF speech further unveils their emotional connection with Wade Sr. confessing that it made all fathers of America cry. Meanwhile, at the other end, we could see Wade resonating with “I cried like a baby” after watching the speech video.

Since that $73 confession, we all know that Dwyane Wade Sr. is a proud father who earned that feeling. With him keeping another suspense at the corner around the Miami Heat event, it is hard to see if we are on the edge of another emotional roller coaster.
