Do tattoos and appearance unfairly influence police interactions? Share your thoughts on Shaunie Henderson's concerns.

Celebrity parents tend to have similar concerns. From slight nagging to a long list of strict rules, they often share the same worries about their children. Recently, Shaquille O’Neal‘s ex-wife, Shaunie Henderson, shared how she gave her son Myles O’Neal a similar set of rules. Following the frightening incident involving Shareef O’Neal as narrated by Pastor Keion Henderson, these rules seemed even more crucial.

In a recent episode of The Groow Zone podcast, Basketball Wives star Shaunie O’Neal explained the rules she set for her eldest son, Myles, when he began driving lessons. Among these were specific instructions, such as keeping his hands visible to the police and rolling down the windows if he were ever pulled over by an officer.

“I remember when Myles started driving I used to explain to him like be careful you know like if you ever get pulled over make sure both of your hands are on the steering wheel like make sure they can see your hands at all times don’t argue,” Shaunie said.

The two went on to discuss the seriousness of the situation, emphasizing that youngsters must not only know these rules but, most importantly, follow them. Former NBA player Robert Horry echoed this sentiment. On an episode of The Big Shot Bob podcast, he shared a similar perspective.

Shaunie also pointed out the importance of understanding that when a person is inside a car, it can be difficult for police officers to gauge their height or what they might have in their hands.

Pastor Keion recalled driving his stepsons, Shareef and Shaqir, home after their basketball practice. However, it wasn’t a smooth ride for the Henderson. Both the O’Neal boys were shirtless. Most importantly, Shareef had many tattoos. And this raised concerns for their stepfather.

He was worried that they could be wrongly perceived and possibly pulled over by the police. As a result, he asked the boys to keep their hands inside the car, roll up the windows, and put their shirts back on.

“This man’s (Shareef) entire body is covered in tattoos share that’s him. Shaqir a tattoo here and there he sprinkled they got the windows down they don’t have any shirts on and I’m driving in Texas and I’m scared to death,” Pastor Henderson said. “That’s scary,” Shaunie agreed with Pastor Keion, sharing his concerns about the situation. It seems quite a heart attack that the O’Neal kids gave to their stepfather.
