From dominating to watching others dominate, Allen Iverson’s journey has been like any other NBA star. Of course, some leave a mark more significant than others—cue Iverson’s iconic Michael Jordan cross as a rookie—but looks like new and upcoming stars are already here to make history their own now. And A.I is totally here for it! Especially when it’s someone, he basically considers family.
“Congratulations, Nephew,” wrote Allen Iverson on his Instagram post, but he did not tag anybody. He was talking about Yomashei Coleman’s son, who was part of the U 11 team at the 757 Chiefs and won the ring. For the unversed: Coleman is a celebrity stylist, who worked with Allen Iverson for decades and shares a familial bond still.
Notably, Coleman also shared recently that she was also Carmelo Anthony’s hair stylist, when Allen Iverson was also part of the Denver Nuggets—where the duo played together from 2006-2008. “Fun fact: The first time I did #Melo hair we were in the #Vip of #clublove in #DC 🥳🤣 The craziest place I braided BUB hair was in a #Rollsroyce him in the front seat & me in the back on the way to a game 🤦🏽,” she revealed in an Instagram post.

On Iverson’s birthday, the hair stylist had endearingly wrote, “Happy 49th birthday to my “BUB” !!! Thank you for 35 great years of being my family! We have Been up together, we have been down together, we have been all around the world together, we have shared so many monumental moments, we have shared families, we have laughed together, & we have cried together!”

While the reason behind Coleman’s son being close to the NBA legend is now quite clear, he is not the only young hooper that The Answer has impacted and connected with.

In March, this year, AI took to Instagram not only to promote the Iverson Classic All-American Game but to promote another NBA veteran’s son. “Congrats nephew!!” on the post where Stephen Jackson Jr. was selected to be part of the event. Interestingly, Jackson never teamed up with Bubba Chuck on the court, yet went on to form a close bond.
“I have my own relationship with AI. I never played with him, but we always been like brothers, and I just think the person I am, he just embraced me, from day one.” Last year in August, the former Warriors star explained his bond with Iverson. And a similar show of support AI showed for LeBron James’ son.

“I’m a fan of you and your journey. I’m inspired by your resiliency! Can’t wait to see you rock out l got my popcorn ready nephew!” After the cardiac arrest scare in July, Iverson shared the training clip of Bronny to show support for the current Lakers star. The respect is mutual as the eldest child of LeBron James revealed that Iverson was one of the players amongst others he watched extensively while growing up.
Seemingly, AI has had a huge impact on the league with even the current generation of players wanting to follow him. What’s even better is that he too is willing to embrace these talented stars and form connections with them.
