Shaquille O’Neal is back to help the people. Shaq has always used his platform to help those in need. Making things affordable for the regular consumer has always been important for the Big Aristotle. But now, Shaq wants to help the people directly, and he is looking to do that through his partnership with Papa John’s.

Shaq, who is a board member of Papa John’s, is bringing back his ‘pizza with purpose’. As Canada is currently facing a surge in food insecurity across the country, Shaq’s initiative is meant to give back.

Papa John’s recently announced that their fan-favorite pizza, the Shaq-a-Roni pizza, will be available from October 24th until the end of the year. Shaq-a-Roni Pizza is an extra-large pizza that is being sold for a good cause. 1 dollar from every pizza sold will be donated to the Canadian food rescue program Second Harvest, the largest food rescue organization in Canada.

Canada is currently facing one of its biggest struggles. As the cost of living is increasing in the country, over 1.9 million people accessed food banks in March alone. This was an all-time high.

Even during the pandemic, it did not come close to this number. So, the Los Angeles Lakers legend’s work to help the needy in Canada is of great significance. Shaq said, “I’m proud of the impact the Shaq-a-Roni has made in Canada.“

The limited-time pizza is available throughout the country for $21.99. From now to December 31st, anytime someone buys a Shaq-a-roni, the fast food chain will donate $1 to the charity. In 2022, Papa John’s raised over $63,000 for Second Harvest with the Shaq-a-Roni.

Shaq joined the board of Papa John’s in 2019. He has always invested in the company and owned franchises, but this was his first step into management.

However, according to reports, Shaq was not taking his role seriously and missed numerous board meetings without appropriate reasons in the first year. This made them call for a vote to fire the Lakers legend from the billion-dollar company.

But Shaq continued to remain on the board, even with all the tension. It’s safe to say that it was all for good, as Shaq is now making a major impact on people with his collaboration with the company.
