I do what I do. Always,” said Shaquille O’Neal once, and it seems like he has been true to his words throughout his career. We all know Shaquille O’Neal, the larger-than-life personality who, beyond his towering success in the NBA, has taken on a variety of roles with unmatched flair. From becoming a sports analyst on Inside the NBA to stepping into music as a rapper, Shaq has proven he’s more than just a basketball player. Now, his sons seem to have inherited this adventurous spirit, with each exploring paths outside basketball.

In a recent video by Home Team Hoops, Shareef O’Neal could be seen behind the camera, operating the equipment and capturing dynamic footage of the game and its players at the Iverson classic. At one point in the video, Shareef even says, “You already know I’m the best cameraman.” While Shareef has basketball in his blood, his passion for camerawork and storytelling shows he’s more than just an athlete.

However, Shareef’s journey in basketball is far from over. A former top high school recruit and a top-30 prospect in the 2018 class, he has displayed his potential on the court. At the beginning of college, Shareef’s stats were respectable, although a heart condition and subsequent surgery impacted his playtime and trajectory, leading to him only averaging 2.6 PP along with 3 RPG and 0.1 APG.

Despite these setbacks, he has shown resilience, joining the G League Ignite team to pursue his NBA dreams, where he averaged 8 PPG and 3 RPG. “I know for a fact he’s Giannis Antetokounmpo with a jump shot. But you know what makes Giannis different from every other player? His motor. His motor: full speed every time. His motor is, ‘I’m getting the ball, I’m dunking the ball, I’m running you over, I don’t care who’s in the way,Shaq said about his son in an interview.

Now coming to Myles O’Neal, he’s following his father’s footsteps and has built a career as a DJ, performing at major events and venues. The 27-year-old’s music journey started last year when he released his first single, Superficial, featuring Hadar Adora, which has over 400k+ streams on Spotify. However, Myles hit the EDM scene this year and is now headlining shows nationwide while also on the road supporting some of the biggest names in electronic music, including SIDEPIECE, Sickick, Chantal Jeffries, and NITTI. “I’ve seen him perform many times, and he’s really good. I’m actually jealous; he’s really good,” Shaq said during a fundraising event.

Shaquille O’Neal built a legacy in and out of the arena, and his sons are catching up with him, thereby proving that the O’Neal name goes beyond mere basketball. However, talking about the on-court legacy, Shareef has found a new ground to perform on.

As mentioned earlier, after overcoming his heart surgery in 2018, Shareef had the chance to showcase his ultimate skills to the basketball world. And he even did after he joined the G-League team Ignite in 2002. However, his big break came this year.

The 24-year-old on October 18 got the chance to complete his NBA dream of becoming a player like his father as he was selected by the Sacramento Kings. His mother and Shaq’s ex-wife Shaunie Henderson even took to Instagram to congratulate her son on his achievement.

“I’m so proud of you @shareefoneal I can’t even talk about this without crying. I know this was always your goal and the odds you beat to finally see it happen is beyond amazing… I know you had some doubtful days but you consistently pushed through. This is so much bigger than basketball,” wrote Shaunie in an Instagram post.

Unfortunately, this happy moment was short-lived as he was immediately moved to the G-League team Stockton Kings as part of an Exhibit-10 deal. However, given Shareef’s determination and skills, it’s only a matter of time before he joins the NBA again.
