Kevin Hart has never been one to shy away from poking fun at high-profile figures, but not everyone takes his humor lightly. Years ago, Hart found himself in hot water with the legendary Michael Jordan after playfully roasting MJ’s fashion choices during a charity event in Las Vegas. The tension between the two has lingered ever since. And now, it seems like another NBA champ has Hart in his sights.
During an appearance on the Come And Talk 2 Me podcast, Avery Johnson opened up about his NBA journey. As the conversation was wrapping up, Mark Jackson couldn’t resist asking the Spurs icon what he thought about Kevin Hart’s famous impersonation of him. Johnson’s face lit up with a smile as he went on to deliver Hart a lighthearted warning.
“I told my daughter, I said look, I know you’re about to take on this new job and Kevin Hart is part of that, part of this organization. I said when you see Kevin Hart, I say you better go grab him and put him against the wall in the hallway and tell him, ‘Stop talking like my dad!’” Johnson said, sending the entire panel into fits of laughter.

But it isn’t all bad blood. Johnson made sure to give credit where it’s due, adding, “And then give him a hug and tell him I said hello and I love his work.”
In the most nerve-wracking of situations – Saturday Night Live auditions, Kevin Hart had decided to pull out his Avery Johnson impression. “Imma going to pass the ball to David Robinson,” was his pick. But unfortunately, the joke fell flat because SNL creator Lorne Michaels had no idea who Johnson was. Hart would recall the instance later on Conan and Johnson, as a viewer, would laugh his heart out at the narration.
But the same can’t be said about the Michael Jordan-Kevin Hart dynamic.
Kevin Hart care less about MJ feud

On Jimmy Kimmel Live, Hart revealed it all started with a joke about Jordan’s high-waisted pants and distinctive facial hair. Jordan didn’t take kindly to the ribbing —“Have a good day,” he had said while squeezing Hart’s hand just a little too tightly.

And during his recent Acting My Age tour, Kevin Hart didn’t hold back discussing the tension. According to the New York Post, Hart shared with the audience how MJ “had an attitude” with him after a celebrity event and hadn’t talked to him since. But for Hart, it hasn’t been a bother. “I don’t give a s**t. I could care less. I can fu***g care less,” he told the crowd.
His tour pretty much sums up the reason. Turning 45, Hart is looking to focus on things that matter, on peace, if we may name. “I’m at a point in my life where it’s very hard to bother me… You get to the point where little things don’t matter,” he iterated. Hart is currently on tour, completing 51 shows across the USA, throughout the year.
