Just a few months ago, Dwyane Wade was in the headlines for the infamous cookie story. Involving two important members, LeBron James and Pat Riley, it was bound to cause drama. This soon escalated when one side denied it while the other detailed it as true. It came after the Heat’s situation with Jimmy Butler. As the team defeated the Chicago Bulls 109-90 to advance in the Play-In Tournament, Wade dropped another truth about the Heat president Pat Riley’s management.

During his appearance at The Underground Lounge, Wade touched upon LeBron James’ exit from the Miami Heat. He recalled that Riley prevented James from having his favorite chocolate chip cookies, hinting at his extreme micromanaging style. ‘King James’ himself confirmed the story during his appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.

In a recent interview with Anthony Chiang, Wade once again spoke about Riley’s role with the team. Wade highlighted that while Riley has adapted himself to the different generations he has coached, he didn’t forget his true identity.

“I don’t think he’s ever lost his true identity, and that is something that you don’t want him to lose. I’ve talked about that very candidly. Yeah, there are some things that you look at it and you say, ‘OK, there’s a little micromanaging going on.’ Micromanaging, sometimes, it feels petty. So if you’re petty and I’m petty, then we’re going to get petty. But I think along his time, he’s tinkered from the Lakers to New York and to Miami and the different generations in Miami,Wade told.

Speaking of the cookie story, Dan Le Batard revealed that a Heat insider denied it. However, after James, former Heat player Mario Chalmers confirmed it. Regardless, Wade has been quite clear on his stance.

After James left the team, there were some issues between Wade and Riley regarding the deal. D-Wade was upset over how the franchise chose to deal with other young players before securing the deal that he had wanted. That ultimately saw the 3x NBA champ go to the Bulls. However, he returned to the Heat for his final year and has had his legacy immortalized in a statue.

He is still connected with the franchise. So, when the team was in trouble, he did step up.

Dwyane Wade shared encouraging words to Bam Adebayo

The Miami Heat had a rough patch after Butler left the team. The Heat faced a 10-game losing streak, which was the longest in its history since the 11-game losing streak in the 2007-08 season. It was natural for all the Miami Heat legends to flock to the headquarters to extend their words of wisdom.

Udonis Haslem and Goran Dragic were seen conversing and practicing with the young players. Wade, in Timeout With Dwyane Wade, also had a word with Bam Adebayo, whom he called the leader of the team. Adebayo has averaged 21 points since Butler left. He mentioned how the team never loses hope and continues to fight till the end.

You gotta run through this tape. Stuff look bad right now. Jimmy just left. Everything is crumbling down, right? Don’t let go of it. And I think Bam emerged as a leader. Yeah. I think Bam is now the leader of the Miami Heat,” Wade said.

He also had high praise for Tyler Herro, who is averaging 24 points and 5 rebounds. Currently holding the 10th seed in the Eastern Conference, the Miami Heat sit at 37-45. And despite all the drama, Wade is excited for the Heat.
