Internet personality Roland Pollard is known to have taught competitive cheerleading for over 13 years. Through his daughter, Jayden’s help, he was able to create a set of videos that made him an internet sensation overnight. However, he was heavily criticized for one of his stunts in March, where Jayden seemingly looked terrified while she was flipped in the air. While he has since been scrutinized, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal decided to showcase Pollard and Jayden’s talent to his 32 million Instagram followers.

Self-described entrepreneur Roland Pollard uploaded two reels back in the month of June. To say he faced massive backlash would be an understatement.

The first reel featured the 33-year-old motivating his daughter, Jayden, to leave her fear behind. He then proceeded to lift her up high in the air, letting her make an upside-down pose with both her hands resting on Pollard’s one hand. Pollard then made her take a little leap and allowed her to land back to the ground on her feet.

“Do not ever scream as I’m trying to catch you. That was perfect,” said Rolland while encouraging his daughter. The second reel featured a throwback video highlighting Rolland and a much younger Jayden. Both of them stood in an open area with trees surrounding them.

Rolland did the same thing as seen in the previous video and proceeded to lift her daughter high in the air and then catch her back in his arms. Hugging the little girl, Rolland proceeded to tell her to work on her “straddle”.

Both the videos caught the attention of Shaquille O’Neal. He took to his Instagram story to promote them with his 32.1 Million followers. While Shaq may be in awe of the way that the father was training his daughter in gymnastics, the same couldn’t be said for other people out there.

Pollard’s video was subject to backlash a few months ago

Back in the month of March, Roland Pollard proceeded to do a stunt with his daughter. Gymnast Michael Head inspired the same. From doing a backflip to instantly being lifted into the air, a feeling of fear could be seen developing on the child’s face. Despite the same, she was able to do the rest of the acrobatic tricks effectively and landed on the ground with a smile on her face.

Many people took to the comments section to share their reactions on the same. Remarks like “She looks terrified, Is she being forced to do this to make dad happy?” to “Poor child looks terrified!….She never looks like she wants to be doing this,” were prominent. An impression was created that people were not fully on board with what they were seeing.
