Hollywood’s tinsel town graced the red carpet at The Clooney Foundation for Justice award show. ‘The Albies’ featured several Hollywood A-listers arriving to show their support. Created by George and his wife Amal Clooney, the event also saw a number of athletes, including NBA star Dwyane Wade. But why was the NBA star present there?

While Union’s appearance at the show was understandable due to her work with the Hollywood star in 2002, what was Wade doing there? Was he just a plus one, or was there something more? Most of the actor’s fans won’t remember that Union and Clooney worked together in the movie ‘Welcome to Collinwood’. This 2002 film was a remake of the 1958 Italian film ‘Big Deal on Madonna Street’. Furthermore, it was directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, who would later go on to become global names, thanks to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Unfortunately, the movie bombed at the box office due to its limited release and lackluster reviews from critics. Union and Clooney would, unfortunately, never work together again after that one stint.

The award show, ‘The Albies’, was set up to showcase the brave defenders of justice. The award is also essential for spotlighting threats to these people, informing them that the world’s eyes are on them. It was named after Justice Albie Sachs, a renowned anti-apartheid activist. Among the attendees were Richard Kind, Doja Cat, Donatella Versace, Gabrielle Union, John Krasinski, and many more.

However, the movie is not the connection between the two stars and Clooney. The latter also gifted Wade’s son a surprise just a year ago.

It was almost a year ago, when Clooney and Dwyane Wade’s son Zaire’s paths crossed. As the young lad turned 21, Clooney gave him a cool gift. Beautifully packed were three Casamigos tequila bottles delivered for the young star. A note attached to the gift gave a warm welcome to Zaire to the Casamigos family. This was a very nice gesture by the Hollywood star, which Zaire posted about on his Instagram.

However, according to Forbes, a year prior to this, Clooney and his business partner sold the company for $1 billion. Despite that, this was a great gift by the Hollywood star which he claimed would be Zaire’s first step in the complex world of luxury alcohol. This incredible surprise for Wade’s son and the fact that Clooney worked with Union could have been the reason why Wade attended the event.

Furthermore, Wade has been vocal about global issues in the past and continues to bring issues to light via social media. The two looked stunning on the red carpet, with Wade wearing a blue suit and Union wearing a metallic dress. The duo stood tall amongst the Hollywood stars on the red carpet, adding another feather to their hats.
