After Being Abused on the Phone by Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley Shuts Down White Flag Rumors With Bitter Reality

Charles Barkley is a former NBA star who got drafted into the Philadelphia 76ers in the 1984 NBA draft. ‘The Round Mound of Rebound’ is a 11-time NBA All-star, 2-time Olympic Gold medalist and even received the MVP in 1993. He currently works as a TNT analyst for the show ‘Inside the NBA’.

In a recent interview, Charles Barkley shuts down white flag rumors with a bitter reality, when asked of his relationship with Chicago Bulls legend, Michael Jordan.

In an interview in 1998, Michael Jordan was asked who he hangs out with from the league and the Chicago Bulls legend instantly responded, “Sure, Charles is probably one of my best,” as the crowd in the background cheers him on. However, things haven’t panned out that great for their friendship since the infamous call that Jordan made to Barkley.

Amid the criticism pouring in for Jordan regarding his ownership of the Charlotte Hornets in 2010, TNT analyst Charles Barkley also called out Jordan on his show. One of his criticisms of Jordan led to the end of their once-close friendship. Jordan called Chuck to express his disappointment, following which the two haven?t spoken to each other.

Jimmy Traina asked Barkley on the podcast ‘SI MEDIA’, “How come you don’t bump into each other?”

Charles Barkley chuckles and replies, “That’s a great question because… I think we’ve never got face-to-face or close enough, but I think we’ve actually only been in the same room, like three times in the last twenty-five?years.”

Despite finding incredible success on the court, Jordan has definitely struggled in maintaining his friendships off the court.

His friendships with former NBA athletes/teammates, namely Isiah Thomas, Scottie Pippen, Reggie Miller, Patrick Ewing, Skip Bayless, Charles Oakeley, Steve Kerr and Charles Barkley have all reportedly ended over the years.

MJ and Barkley’s friendship, however, was quite popular as the two were often spotted playing golf together with their mutual friend, Tiger Woods. But maybe it’s true when they say that money cannot buy everything.
