“I got tired of thinking,” Carmelo Anthony’s ex-wife La La Anthony said about her decade-long battle with a painful skin condition. Her socialite friend Kim Kardashian suffers from the same condition. As a celebrity featuring in numerous shows and movies, La La struggled for a long time before finally opening up to doctors and, now, to the public. In an effort to create more awareness and help people understand the disease, La La shared her experience, collaborating with a medical technology company.

The Perfect Find Actress took to her Instagram to share a post in partnership with Amgen Bio-Tech. But it proved to be closer to heart as she opened up about her struggle with plaque psoriasis. Anthony mentioned how this condition dictated her style. From what she wore to her hairstyles, everything depended on it. Growing tired of it, she sought help from a doctor. It was then she that she would the condition was triggered by inflammation inside her body.

Anthony reveals the diagnosis boosted her confidence and is no longer hesitant or “ashamed” about it. “I don’t want others to wait as long as I did to get a diagnosis,” she wrote, previously revealing she wanted to use her platform for good.

“This is the first time I’m really talking about it publicly… but you just get that ‘aha’ moment where you realize ‘I wasn’t put in this position to not utilize my voice and my platform for good,” Anthony said in an interview with Newsweek.

Nearly 8 million Americans struggle with plaque psoriasis. While it is not contagious, this autoimmune condition can be very painful, forming red, scaly patches on any part of the skin, including the eyebrows and legs. The causes can include environmental changes, genetic factors, and more.

In the interview, she opened up about how she had several conversations with doctors to find the right treatment for her. After dedicating almost a decade to managing it, Anthony does not want the millions of others suffering from the same condition to endure the same struggles.
