Citi Field hosted the Boston Red Sox against the New York Mets tonight. Carmelo Anthony was not going to miss his favorite MLB team’s home game. Interestingly, another NBA star had a similar thought when he traveled from the Bay Area to watch his favorite team play. After winning gold in the Olympics, Steph Curry is enjoying his break watching the Red Sox in New York. Curry had the Instagram proof to flex his run-in with his impromptu Olympic coach of five minutes. But make no mistake, they’re rivals on the sidelines of an MLB game too.

Curry looked like he got on the ‘demure’ bandwagon posing next to Carmelo Anthony with their matching Seigelman Stable snapbacks from the celebrity box on his Instagram Stories. The duo also met the owner of the celebrity-favorite headwear brand, Max Siegelman at the game. Also spotted at Citi Field were Chris Mullin and John Mayer.

We know Melo got the last laugh after that coincidental meetup. The Mets won the game 4-1 while Boston was left nursing another disappointment.

It’s a win for the Knicks legend too. While a born and bred Baltimore Orioles diehard, his time in New York had left him divided between the Mets and Yankees. Melo picks his battles and since the Mets were playing tonight, they had his loyalty.

Sometimes he reps both New York teams. Which MLB fan can forget that moment in 2016 when Melo walked across Citi Field, cheering for the Mets, but his cap was a mix of the Mets and Yankees logos? Both fandoms had mixed feelings then, but in hindsight, this was super smart. And either way, Melo comes out the winner.

Safe to say, The Chef was there for the Red Sox. While everyone thought Curry would be split between the Giants and As in San Francisco, he’s always been a vocal Boston fan since he was a child. It made things interesting in the Curry household because his brother, Seth, is a major Yankees fan. Curry, however, didn’t comment on his team losing to Melo’s tonight.

This isn’t the first time Curry has sat on the sidelines with the Anthonies. Since the Olympics, social media was flooded with throwbacks of a baby-faced Steph watching games, mostly basketball, alongside Melo and his son, Kiyan. Now 17, Kiyan Anthony shared his own throwbacks with Curry from when he was barely a pre-schooler.

It comes off the back of a viral Olympic photo of Curry on the court and Melo and Kiyan reacting to his shots from the stands. Curry made his Olympic debut in Paris about a month and a half ago. Team USA legend, Anthony, was in attendance as a spectator, but he briefly coached Curry and LeBron James to victory from the sidelines. After that display, one MLB game won’t be the cause of bad blood between these two titans.
