There we go. Co-owner Magic Johnson is back with his predictions. This time for the game between the LA Dodgers and the St. Louis Cardinals. With Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts taking control of the team, it looks like Johnson is pretty confident. Minutes before the game, he wanted his fans to keep his MLB team in their prayers and hopes.

The Los Angeles Lakers legend wrote on Twitter, “Dodger Nation, let’s cheer on our Men in Blue as they go for their second victory over the Cardinals!”. This is the 2nd time that the LA unit is facing the Cardinals in two days. In yesterday’s match-up, the Dodgers enjoyed a comfortable 7-1 win. Tyler Glasnow’s 5 strikeouts and Mookie Betts’s viral home run secured the win. Ohtani had two hits and also scored a run in his first game at the Dodgers home stadium.

Magic Johnson’s franchise is 2-1 in the West division of the National League. They are tied with the San Diego Padres in 2nd place behind the Arizona Diamondbacks. A win today can give them a promising push at the start of the season, but let’s see if the star-studded Dodgers can make Johnson’s wish come true.

Magic Johnson’s $1.4 billion offseason spree: A boon or a bust?

The Dodgers brought in Shohei Ohtani, Tyler Glasnow, and Manuel Margot during the offseason, to assemble a team similar to the ‘Avengers’. This was exciting for Johnson, but not all super teams find their way to the finish line. The 2024 Spring training turned out to be a good start for the Dodgers this year. They finished the Cactus League with 14 wins and 7 losses, to finish at the top of the table.

The Dodgers had an impeccable season last year too. Despite being table toppers, they lost in the very first round of the playoffs to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Devastatingly, it was a clean sweep too. Johnson even showed his frustration on X, “We’re all disappointed that our Dodgers didn’t hit or pitch well. That’s why we lost the Series to the Diamondbacks!”. And in the next few months, the front office roped in some of the best players in the league. So, let’s see if the off-season efforts will work in favor of the Dodgers!
