When you’re Michael Jordan, even your friends idolize you. The NBA legend and avid golfer shares the course with several celebrity golfers. Some of his golf buddies are actual champions on the PGA Tour. One new tournament champion apparently looks up to His Airness for his athletic prowess. And he was extremely happy to have Jordan acknowledge his most recent victory.

The PGA pro received personal messages of congratulations from those he knows after his big win. One of his friends who privately congratulated him was none other than the six-time NBA champion.

Michael Jordan commends American golfer on his win

The 18th best golfer in PGA’s rankings was up against stiff competition at the Travelers Championship 2023 on June 25. The 37-year-old won the title at the Connecticut course, making it his sixth PGA Tour victory. Following the win, it’s natural that he was flooded with messages of praise. But of course, when you’re at the level he is, it isn’t just a dozen or so texts. Nor is it just limited to Mom and a few close friends.

Speaking about his win to Golf Digest, Keegan Bradley couldn’t contain his smile when asked if he’s gone through all the messages yet and who has contacted him.

“Well, of course, Michael Jordan texted me,” the new champion gushed. The former NBA pro and longtime golf enthusiast often hits a few holes with Bradley. Before they were friends, Bradley was among many fans who admired Jordan, the Chicago Bulls legend.

“That means a lot to me. He’s obviously my hero but one of my good friends,” he said after the tournament. He didn’t say what the billionaire golf course owner told him but it had to be meaningful for Bradley. And of course, Mike being Mike would prefer if the text stays between the two athletes.

Keegan humble-bragged that he got over 200 texts. But obviously, his hero’s message remains most memorable to him.

Bradley expresses his admiration for Jordan

Keegan putt the ball with only a 2-feet par on the 18th hole at the match. He was so overwhelmed by his victory, that he burst into an adrenaline-filled scream. He threw in Jordan’s signature victory move from the 1988 Slam Dunk contest to boot.

Perhaps Jordan would’ve mentioned his victory celebration in the congratulatory message. Notably, the 37-year-old is sponsored by the Jordan Brand and he also sports his signature sneakers. He was wearing his Jordan shoes when he won at the Travelers Championship too.

MJ wasn’t his only celebrity friend to text him after the game. He name-dropped, “Timmy Wakefield, Boston Red Sox,” as well as Baba Booey from Howard Stern’s show and Aaron Rodgers.

“When you get a text from an athlete it hits different because they know what goes into doing something like this and it means a lot.”

His high regard for fellow athletes certainly speaks volumes for Keegan Bradley’s sportsmanship.
