Give Stephen A. Smith the opportunity and he’d connect any discussion to Michael Jordan. He recently welcomed Shannon Sharpe as a co-host. So it only makes sense Smith joins him on Club Shay Shay to talk about sports. They went from discussing their co-anchors, to football, to feuds, and even boxing. Somehow in true Stephen A. Smith-style, he steered Sharpe off course to talk about His Airness.
Interestingly, they were on the subject of one of the most formidable powerhouses in the boxing world. This same champion didn’t miss the chance to hype Jordan himself.

New First Take host, Shannon Sharpe hosted his senior, Stephen A. Smith on Club Shay Shay to talk sports and sports media. Big names came up, including Floyd Mayweather Jr. Because it’s hard to talk about boxing without bringing up ‘Money’. Sharpe and Smith discussed the iconic 2015 matchup between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. According to them, current boxing matches are exciting but could never live up to the fight of the century. It was something the world was waiting for as long as the two greats were still in the ring.
According to Sharpe, Mayweather brought that thrilling quality to pay-per-view. “Everybody that Mayweather fought, he made him look like it was five years too late.” He added “that’s the greatness of [Mayweather].”
Smith agreed with him at every sentence as the Super Bowl champion said, “The Champions that this man beat and made them look mundane from beating them.” Smith saw his chance then and took it. “You talk about Mayweather right?”
When Sharpe confirmed it, Smith continued, “I would say the same about Jordan.”
‘You could tell from Sharpe’s reaction he knew it was coming. Leave it to Stephen A. Smith to insert his GOAT into any discussion. It doesn’t look like Floyd Mayweather would mind the discussion veering off himself. He might agree even.

Earlier this year, Floyd Mayweather weighed in on a completely different matchup with a brief statement.
It is of course the raging debate between LeBron James and Michael Jordan for GOAT. Mayweather made his choice based on the same deadly instinct he has.
“I love LeBron,” as everyone in this debate traditionally prefaces. “But one thing about Michael Jordan, he is going to come out there every night to kill you,” Mayweather declared further adding that he prefers an athlete like MJ who gave their all in every game.

Smith and Sharpe agree that Jordan does have that killer quality that Mayweather showed in every bout. “LeBron will beat you, I know. But MJ would make you look like less than what you are,” Smith campaigned. Do you also think Jordan and Mayweather are comparable?
