Generational differences need not necessarily be passed down. The entire NBA community knows that the 90s Chicago Bulls team had differing opinions on ‘The Last Dance’. Netflix describes the documentary as a series that chronicles the rise of superstar Michael Jordan and his three-peats with the Bull. However, Jordan’s teammates, including Scottie Pippen, Horace Grant and Luc Longely, have on certain occasions expressed their disappointment on how they were sidelined in the series with complete focus being on Mike.

However, Grant’s son Horace Jr. Grant has no intentions of escalating things further. Him and Michael Jordan’s son have extended a highly fashionable olive branch. Horace Jr. received the newly launched Trophy Room x Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Rookie Card – Away” sneakers from Marcus Jordan. Taking to his Instagram account, Horace Grant’s son shared the photo of the newly received sneakers in his Instagram story. “Best way to get the week started @trophyroomstore @heirmj523, “ read the caption to the story.

Notably, the ‘Trophy Room’ is a retail boutique store owned and run by Marcus Jordan. And the sneakers which Horace Grant Jr. has got for himself are Trophy Room’s latest collaboration with the Air Jordan brand. It is worth mentioning that this all has happened even after Horace Grant termed ‘The Last Dance’ as “bullsh*t”.

A lot of people really want to ask us questions about that bullsh*t documentary, but just come out and get the tickets and you’ll hear a lot,” Grant said at the NBL24 Andrew Gaze Award Night. The tickets Grant was referring to were for Scottie Pippen’s ‘The No Bull’ tour. Pippen had claimed that the tour was born out of his desire to reconnect with the fans. But, a majority section of the community viewed the tour as a resistance to what was portrayed in ‘The Last Dance’. It is worth mentioning that Horace Grant never took direct shots at MJ prior to the docuseries’ release.

A closer look into Michael Jordan and Horace Grant’s bond

Despite winning three championships alongside each other, Grant and Jordan never seemed to have a close personal bond. During an appearance on ‘Pardon My Take’ back in 2020, Grant revealed that he and Mike held a mutual respect for each other, but their relationship stayed limited to professional matters.

But Grant always held high respect in his words for the 6x NBA Finals MVP. That can’t be said for all of the Bulls teammates though. Back in 2013, Scottie Pippen had said LeBron James would be the greatest player in the history of the NBA. Grant had commented on this stating, “You can’t compare anybody to Michael”. However, things changed with the release of ‘The Last Dance’.

In the docuseries, Mike called Horace Grant a snitch. He alleged that Horace was the one who leaked the information, which was later published in Sam Smith’s ‘The Jordan Rules’ book. The allegations did not go down well with the 4x NBA champion. He denied these allegations and at the same time, lashed out at Jordan. “I mean, if you want to call somebody a snitch, that’s a damn snitch right there,” Grant stated.

However, the fresh start, as reflected in Horace Jr. Grant’s story, could put an end to these differences. At least for the upcoming generation.
