From Washington Commanders to LA Sparks, Magic Johnson has recently been one active franchise owner. Whether it be lunch outings with his Commanders’ stars or his presence on the court supporting his players from Sparks, Johnson has been a good sport. Now after ensuring his presence for Sparks rookie Cameron Brink’s debut game, the 22-year-old’s latest achievement has the 5X NBA champion on his feet again.
Taking to his official account on X, the former LA Lakers star extended his support for the small forward. “Congratulations to@LASparksrookie@cameronbrink22! 🎉👏🏾,” he posted. This came while he reposted an X post by USA Basketball, which included a poster featuring the selected WNBA stars for the 2024 USA Basketball Women’s 3×3 National Team roster. “3×3 The Paris Four 🙌Introducing the 2024 USA 3×3 Women’s National Team! 🇺🇸 #3x3WNT,” read the post.

Notably, Brink secured her spot in the 2024 USA Basketball Women’s 3×3 Women’s National Team roster, set to compete at the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris. Selected by USA Basketball 3×3 Women’s National Team Committee, the other players on the roster include Cierra Burdick, Rhyne Howard, and Hailey Van Lith. Notably, Brink was LA Sparks’ number 2 overall pick in the first round, following Caitlin Clark by Indiana Fever.

As for her performance in the league, her 6’4″ height and 6’8″ wing span make her WNBA’s potential defensive force. And having been given pointers by her god-brother Stephen Curry himself, Brink’s shooting has received some notable appreciation. So far in the league, she may have averaged just 8.8 points per game, but the stat line of 4.6 defensive rebounds, 1.1 steals, and 2.6 blocks is decently impressive.
Cameron Brink can’t hold her emotions back
USA Basketball 3×3 posted a video on Instagram showing Jay Demings presenting the 22-year-old with the US Basketball jersey. Brink was seen overwhelmed, eventually breaking into tears at the news of her big career moment. She further expressed her gratitude for her selection and her honor in representing the US at the Olympics this year.

“The 3×3 training camp experience helped me with my transition into the league, and now I can’t wait to start preparing for the games with Cierra, Rhyne and Hailey,” she said. The former Stanford star has earned quite a name without even having played for a significant time in the WNBA. Nonetheless, she attended the 3×3 Women’s National Team training camp in Springfield, Massachusetts this April alongside her three teammates and along the way played in FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series.
Brink’s in-game proficiency at college basketball, boasting a stat-line of 14.0 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 3.1 blocks per game, further back by her presence on the roster that won the gold at 2023 FIBA 3X3 work in favor of the 22-year-old’s massive feat. Becoming New Balance’s first sponsored female basketball player, and now USA 3×3 Women’s National team—the future looks promising for the 22-year-old.
