Victor Wembanyama’s blood clot situation has sent shivers down the spine of almost everyone, especially those who knew a particular Heat legend’s story. A glorious 13-year NBA career which could have been much more was tragically cut short due to a condition. Fans watched the NBA legend struggle with recurring blood clots and ultimately retire. He was a crucial part of a Big Three who led the Miami Heat to the championship. Horror-stricken fans are now concerned about whether Wembanyama’s situation is similar to the Heat legend’s. Is it serious or career-ending? While the Spurs have provided assurances, Chuck on the other hand has urged for the Heat legend’s guidance.

Chris Bosh truly doesn’t need introductions. As heartbreaking as Bosh’s situation was, he is well aware of the condition he suffered from. He understands how serious some blood clots can be and which aren’t. Perhaps this is why Chuck suggested that the first call in this situation should be to the Heat legend. “The first phone call I would make, will be to Chris Bosh,” Charles Barkley said when Kenny The Jet Smith asked about the treatment for a blood clot on right shoulder.

“Somebody who’s been through it, like that would be my first, anytime I had some type of major injury, I was, Hey, tell me about what you, what the rehab and things like that would, that’d be my first phone call,” the Phoenix Suns legend added that if he were in Wemby’s situation, he might have called Bosh. However, it’s important to understand that while Wembanyama’s condition sounds similar to Bosh’s, it might not be the same.

The official report by the Spurs, as reported by Jared Greenberg on the show, informed that a blood clot was found on Wembanyama’s right shoulder. The report has assured that Wembanyama’s condition poses no long-term health concerns. The report further stated that the Spurs’ star will also be able to return fully to action at the start of the next season.

However, it is confirmed that Wembanyama will miss the rest of the season. Since he won’t be playing the last 30 games, he will not be eligible for any postseason accolades, including the DPOY honor. That, understandably, is a tough time for the Spurs and French star. But the differences between Wembanyama and Bosh’s conditions haven’t stopped people from comparing the two.

What had happened to Chris Bosh?

In 2015, Bosh was sidelined for the rest of the season after blood clots were diagnosed in one of his lungs. He also had blood-thinning medication, which limited his physical activity. It’s unknown whether Wembanyama has any such treatment, as the San Antonio Spurs have kept it private.

Bosh returned in the 2015-16 NBA season and appeared in 53 games before sustaining a calf injury. During the 2016 All-Star break, another blood clot was found on Bosh’s leg. He had to sit out the rest of the 2015-16 season. After he failed a physical before the 2016-17 season, Heat president Pat Riley hinted that Bosh’s time with the team was likely over.

His condition was declared career-ending in June 2017, he was waived by the Heat. Though Bosh tried for a comeback in 2018, it didn’t work out. Later, the Heat legend officially retired.
