Bronny James is not one to be wilted under people’s expectations. LeBron James is considered arguably the GOAT of the league and as his son, Bronny has to deal with the unfair hopes and pressure that is set on him. In a very clever move, the 19-year-old entered the 2024 NBA Draft and will also be entering the NCAA transfer portal. That has seen experts and fans weighing on his future in the league. NBA veteran Byron Scott recently shared his opinion on the matter.

In an interview with TMZ Sports, the 3x NBA champion Scott shared that this decision by Bronny was impeccable. He mentioned that Bronny’s father and Klutch Sports likely contributed valuable advice to the decision. However, for the young hooper, he also had a suggestion. “You know what, to be honest with you, I think one more year of college wouldn’t hurt him. I think he has some great skills, there’s no doubt about that — he knows how to play the game, he’s got a great basketball IQ, but playing one more year and being almost kind of featured, I think would really really solidify him in the next NBA Draft,” Scott said about Bronny.

While he appreciated his game and skills, Scott believes that another year of college basketball would only help enhance his game. But his legendary father is waiting for Bronny to start his NBA journey.

LeBron James’ dream to play with his son

Back in an interview with The Athletics in 2022, the Los Angeles Lakers star, James expressed his wish to play along with his son in the NBA. “My last year will be played with my son. Wherever Bronny is at, that’s where I’ll be. I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It’s not about the money at that point,” James said. If not this year, it’s probable that we’ll witness a more formidable Bronny enter the league in 2025.

The 19-year-old has finished his freshman season for the University of Southern California Trojans. Back in July, the family also had to face a tough time when Bronny suffered a cardiac arrest due to a congenital heart defect during a basketball practice session. After getting approval from the doctors, he made his comeback in November 2023. He has averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game this season.

And as expected, he entered the draft along with maintaining his college eligibility. However, his name wasn’t called out during the NBA mock drafts. So it’s likely that he prefers to continue his college career. Despite this, LeBron’s dream might come true sooner than anticipated. What is your take on this?
