Scottie Pippen and Larsa Pippen can finally breathe a sigh of relief, as their 23-year-old son, Scotty Pippen Jr., has shown the world he’s got the potential to become an NBA star. Throughout the Summer League, he put up impressive numbers, averaging 21.5 points and 8.6 assists per game. His performance also earned him a spot on the All-Summer League First Team. As a good season draws a close today, on a bitter-sweet note for the Pippens, a proud Larsa is taking her leave too.

As suggested, Scotty’s performance has been one of his bests so far, leaving spectators intrigued about his future. Unfortunately, not every story has a fairy-tale ending. Larsa Pippen, who attended every single one of her son’s matches, had to witness a heartbreaking finale. The Miami Heat defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 120-118 in the Summer League final. Shortly after the game, Larsa shared a clip from the airport on Instagram story, captioned, “We’re Outta Here.”

Throughout the Summer League, Larsa Pippen consistently showed her love and support for Scotty Jr. on social media. After the semifinals, she posted a picture of him on her story, while Scottie Pippen shared highlights of the match, captioned, “SCOTTIE PIPPEN JR. TRIPLE-DOUBLE IN NBA SL SEMIFINAL,” with a fire emoji. In that memorable game, Scotty Jr. scored 23 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and 10 assists, becoming only the sixth player in Summer League history to achieve a triple-double.

After the game against New Orleans, Scotty claimed to be the best defender in the league. “I am the best defender in the Summer League,” he had said. Larsa proudly shared that interview on her Instagram story, captioning it “Facts” with a crown emoji. She also shared another story claiming her son should be named the MVP of the Summer League. However, Brooklyn Nets’ power forward Jalen Wilson officially received the MVP title for the 2024 NBA Summer League.

Scotty Pippen Jr. reflects on his performance

As the Summer League wrapped up, Scotty stood out as one of the event’s brightest stars. Entering his second season with the Memphis Grizzlies, Scotty initially signed with the Los Angeles Lakers out of Vanderbilt before joining the Grizzlies on a two-way contract. Last season, he appeared in 21 games for Memphis, starting 16, and averaging 12.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 4.7 assists.

This year’s Summer League saw Scotty elevate his game, boasting an impressive 21.5 points and 8.6 assists per game. Furthermore, his stellar performance likely cements his role into a regular roster for Memphis, highlighting his growth and potential to make a significant impact in the upcoming NBA season.
