LeBron James could do just about anything that Luka Doncic does on the basketball court. But the 38-year-old also places his trust in his teammates. After all, James knows that he needs his teammates in the postseason to win games, so they have to be ready for that. Carter wants Doncic to do the same.
Vince Carter explained how Luka Doncic should trust his teammates and empower them. There is a time for taking over games and making tough shots, but during the regular season, Doncic should sometimes relegate some crucial moments to his teammates to develop more confidence in them.
Most importantly, Luka has Kyrie Irving playing with him. The point guard has proven time and time again that he is one of the best players in clutch moments. This led to Alvin Williams reminding Carter of the game 7 shot made by Kyrie Irving over Stephen Curry in the NBA Finals. LeBron gave Irving the ball and stepped away for Irving to do the job.

Carter thought of playing with Tracy McGrady back in the day and said, “Man, trust these dudes a little bit. Like right now, they’re like he not passing us the ball so he not trusting us. Next thing you know, he gives it a shot and they win four in a row. It works, it’s just being able to buy in (to a system).“

LeBron’s trust was rewarded
LeBron is never afraid of making the right moves even if he is held responsible when they miss the shot. He is looking further ahead into the future and in the playoffs when he will have to do the same more often. The prime example happened a few days ago.
During the Lakers‘ game against the Miami Heat on November 7, LeBron passed the ball to Cam Reddish with less than 5 seconds left in the match to win the game, and he missed the shot according to CBS sports. But four days later Reddish was added to the starting lineup and LeBron did it yet again. James passed to Reddish in the clutch during their game against the Phoenix Suns, and this time he made it.
