Former Timberwolves forward Kevin Garnett is a prominent figure in the basketball world. KG played 21 seasons in the NBA and competed in 143 playoff games. After being traded to the Boston Celtics in 2007, he finally tasted victory in 2008. Despite achieving the highest feats in the game of basketball, Garnett also had eyes for another sport.

The 2004 NBA MVP has frequently shown his interest in soccer. Ever since his departure from Minnesota, he has been a dedicated and loyal fan of the sport, which he credits to a former teammate of his. Recently, he continued expanding his horizons by exploring an entirely different game.

Crazy Handball trick shot surprises Kevin Garnett

The handball game has been played for over a hundred years now, but it doesn’t have quite the same market as soccer, football and basketball. Yet, somehow, this sport caught the attention of the NBA Hall-of-Famer. He shared a small glimpse of the mind-blowing throw of a handball player on his Instagram.

The angle of the player’s wrist shocked the fans and the Big Ticket, who shared the reel on his story. He wrote with it, “WTF kinda of technique is this, nahhh”.

In the video, the handball player is seen twisting the ball peculiarly with his wrists before throwing it with a ridiculous spin. This riveting video left the 10-time NBA All-Star and the goalkeeper equally shocked.

Handball is considered the second most popular team sport after soccer. However, that’s not the case in the US, where many people are unaware of the sport. Neither are there many handball clubs in the USA, nor is the sport broadcasted on television.

The Big Ticket’s soccer obsession

A few years before his retirement in 2016, KG lived out another one of his sporting ambitions. Garnett once credited his Minnesota teammate Marko Jaric for showing him the appeal of soccer. Since then, Garnett has taken the obsession and made it his own.

In fact, KG was all set to purchase a minority stake in the Italian soccer club, AS Roma. While the move did not go through due to complications, the 2008 NBA champion managed to fulfill a different dream.

In 2014, Garnett’s Brooklyn Nets were all set to take on the Atlanta Hawks at the O2 Arena in London. Prior to the match, KG managed to visit the iconic Chelsea stadium, Stamford Bridge and swap jerseys with some of the team’s players.

As of today, the Big Ticket is yet to purchase a stake in any soccer team. Interestingly, LeBron James is the only NBA player to partly own a team from the English Premier League. The King purchased a 2% stake in the esteemed Liverpool club in 2011. Since then, his stake has skyrocketed in value, approximated to be worth over $100 million already!
