“This is Shaq, the biggest Cowboys fan ever”—Shaq O’Neal’s message to the Cowboys owner had his love for the team established loud and clear. And as they say, like father, like son, Shaq’s 21-year-old, Shaqir, also seems to have taken an interest in the team. Shaqir recently took the court with Florida A&M Rattlers against the SMU Mustangs at Dallas’ Moody Coliseum. Unfortunately for the young man, this game marked his team’s second loss of the season, but even the loss brought something memorable.
Shaqir’s 6 points and 5 rebounds in the game didn’t quite turn the tide. In fairness, no one on the Rattlers really shone that night. Their top scorer, Sterling Young, managed 15 points, but that wasn’t enough to pull out a win. Yet, Shaqir walked away with a little consolation—a memorable experience of going through Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium. He gave a quick shout-out to the team on Instagram. “Thank you @dallascowboys… S/O to Sammy for the tour.”
You can bet that proud dad Shaq must have been thrilled to see his son warm up to his favorite team. After all, Shaq’s love for the Cowboys runs so deep, he once bet a whole 50-acre farm on them. However, the story is more about one of Shaq’s many hilarious antics than about a serious bet.

Earlier this year, Shaq took his fandom to the next level in a hilarious exchange with ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith. Jumping into Smith’s show under the alias Tex Johnson, Shaq went all out, claiming he’s been a Cowboys fan his entire life. The former LA Lakers star even told Smith he’d wager his farm on the team winning the Super Bowl.
“I live on a 50-acre farm right down here in Texas, if they don’t win the Super Bowl, you can have my farm… Here is the paper to Tex Johnson’s farm. If we don’t win that Super Bowl, you can have it. You can have the deed and the trust, it’s all yours,” Shaq said.

Stephen A., not buying it, brushed him off, saying the Cowboys wouldn’t make it past playoff heavyweights like the San Francisco 49ers. But that did not stop the 4x NBA champ from attempting another hilarious interaction in the favor of Cowboys.

As mentioned earlier, Big Diesel never misses a chance to bring some humor to his favorite NFL team. After they hit a rough patch with a 3-3 record this season, Shaq took to The Big Podcast to send Cowboys owner Jerry Jones a playful yet well-meaning suggestion for the team.

His pick? Free-agent running back Leonard Fournette, with seven years of NFL experience. “Jerry Jones. It’s me, your boy, Shaq. Look at [Leonard Fournette], looking good. Six pack… He ready to go. All right, Jerry Jones? Stop messing around, Jerry Jones. My man is right here… he’s still 29 Jerry Jones,” he hilariously said.
Further proving the authenticity of his request, Shaquille O’Neal stated he is “the biggest Cowboys fan ever. I don’t switch. I’ve always been a Cowboy fan, ups and downs.” Re-emphasizing the need to sign Fournette. Now, though his request didn’t get approved, Shaq can still find happiness in the fact that his son might follow the same path of love for his favorite NFL team.
