The Philadelphia 76ers legend shares a similar bond with his fans. He always appreciates his fans for sticking with him through thick and thin, recently sharing a heartwarming lesson of life as he praised his fans.

Iverson boasts one of the largest fan bases among the NBA players. During the tough times and struggles of his life, the player has always found his loyal fans by his side. Despite some of his personal or professional mistakes, the fans have shown their support for him. In an urge to appreciate those loyal fans, Iverson recently sent out a touching message. 

He shared, “My fans…they always stick with me. I know a true Allen Iverson fan. They know I am not perfect; they know I am just like them; they know I am emotional…they know I am human. And that’s the relationship Allen Iverson has with his fans.” 

He further said, “My fans are unique. They love me for who I am.”

Iverson’s fearless style of play and unapologetic authenticity endeared him to fans who saw him as a legend. He averaged 26.7 points per game, 3.7 rebounds per game, 6.2 assists per game, 2.2 steals per game, and 0.2 blocks per game, during his career. He was one of the most dominant players in the league. The late Lakers star Kobe Bryant often detailed how he had the hardest time dealing with Iverson. He is not just talented on the court, but also one of the most endearing and influential personalities in the league and he credited his fans for that.

Allen Iverson loves Philadelphia

The legend was selected as the top pick in the 1996 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. Naturally, the 2000-2001 MVP maintains a strong bond with the city, harboring profound affection for his supporters. He stated how even after all these years, fans still respect and cheer for him.

During a fan event, he spoke about his unique bond with the city and said, “That’s why I love Philadelphia so much. I became a man in Philadelphia. I was 21 years old when I got there. As far as an athlete and a fanbase, there’s no other relationship like mine with the people of Philadelphia.”
