When Brittney Griner was coming up through college, she was one of the most dominant players ever. She was almost unstoppable, and this attracted a lot of double teams on her. And whenever the refs miss calling fouls, it would frustrate Griner. This frustration built up, and it led to Griner punching another player in 2010. After the ugly incident, she was forced to attend anger management classes.

After displaying her dominance in high school, she chose to go to Baylor to play college basketball. And she started off brilliantly.

Brittney Griner punched an opponent out of frustration

Brittney Griner started off her college career in excellent fashion. But she had a major blip late in her freshman year. During a game, Griner was trying to get into position and she was tussling with another player. The player who was smaller than Griner grabbed her and pulled her back.

Griner had enough of it and threw a punch. Looking back at the incident, she said, “I rocked her, I mean, yeah, I punched her, I broke her nose. Always getting picked on, it’s just built-up frustration… And then somebody goes grabs you and throws you, I snapped.”?

She was ejected from the game and later reprimanded. Griner was given a two-game suspension, and she was sent to attend counseling for controlling and managing her anger. This would later come in handy as Griner had to face tougher defenses, and she became even better.

Her college career ended in 2013, and she finished as one of the greatest ever.?She would later go on to be drafted number one overall by the Phoenix Mercury. Griner would become one of the league’s best players, and she was a multiple-time All-Star.

BG is currently in prison in Russia and she has been in the news for several months now. The US State Department has been trying to get her back. But there have been no improvements so far for the towering center. The WNBA showed huge support to Griner throughout last season. Many NBA superstars voiced their support for her as well.
