The crypto world was greeted with terrible news as FTX decided to announce bankruptcy. And this had ripple effects around industries, including the sports world. After that, another crypto organization issued an apology after an incorrect announcement. This org was even backed by Michael Jordan and Allen Iverson.
Metaplex Studios announced that Beeple is coming to Solona. The CEO of the company, Stephen Cess, announced this at a conference in Lisbon, Portugal. However, it was later revealed that it was not true.

Mike ‘Beeple’ Winkelmann went on Twitter and said that there was no deal that was in place. He also claimed nothing is agreed upon between him and Metaplex.
Michael Jordan and Allen Iverson are investors in Metaplex
After the tweet started gaining traction, the CEO of the company, Stephen Cess apologized to Mike Winkelmann. He said, “Hi Mike, I want to sincerely apologize here. This was the result of a miscommunication between the orgs involved, but these were my words in the keynote, so I should have confirmed the consent, directly with you, of what was announced. “

He added, “You’re an incredible artist and human and single handedly pushed the digital art space lightyears forward. I’m sorry for the confusion I caused here for you, your fans, and community.”

He had announced that Beeple was coming to Metaplex and this would give creators a chance to make their own NFTs. However, the announcement seemed to have backfired. There is no clear indication of what the miscommunication was, but it looked like the deal is off.
Metaplex has several investors, including two NBA legends. Back in January 2022, Metaplex closed a massive funding round. Reports suggest that the company had raised $46 Million. It also said that it had a ton of investors with them including Michael Jordan and Allen Iverson.

Metaplex also had its connection with FTX, a company that filed for bankruptcy last week. After an unsteady week, the company lost billions and went bankrupt. They also lost the naming rights to the Miami Heat’s stadium after the Heat terminated their deal. And now Metaplex seems to have gotten a huge announcement wrong, which could have major effects on the crypto world.
