Giannis Antetokounmpo, Who Often Wrestled With Bucks Teammate, Was Once Confronted by WWE Superstar Cesaro

Giannis Antetokounmpo and Robin Lopez of the Milwaukee Bucks faced a rather unexpected and daunting challenge in a road game against the Detroit Pistons when they came face-to-face with WWE superstar Cesaro. Cesaro and Pistons mascot Hooper almost ended up in a tag team match with Antetokounmpo and Lopez.

The confrontation between an NBA athlete and a WWE superstar is nothing new. Shaq faced off against the Big Show in what was a truly entertaining matchup. He had an outside chance because of his height and MMA training experience.

Giannis and Robin Lopez have proven themselves to be hardcore wrestling fans. The players’ entry tunnel in Fiserv Arena regularly holds wrestling events between the two NBA giants. Wesley Matthews and Thanasis Antetokounmpo also participate regularly.

Cesaro was in attendance in the Pistons’ matchup with the road team, Milwaukee Bucks. He took a picture with the referee and almost drained a full-court shot with his back to the hoop.

Afterwards, he started interacting with the audience and throwing merchandize in their direction. But the real action was yet to begin.

He squared up with the reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo who had Robin Lopez alongside him. Detroit Pistons mascot Hooper joined Cesaro to even things out on both ends. Later on, WWE reacted to the incident, anticipating a potential opponent for Cesaro in WWE SmackDown.

The Bucks team houses a lot of wrestling fans. Wesley Matthews grew up in the state of Wisconsin, idolizing WWE superstars like Stone Cold Steve Austin. Giannis and his brother Thanasis did exactly the same thousands of miles away.

The Bucks players could often be found entangled in complex chokeholds. “It’s a vibe of brotherhood,” according to Thanasis Antetokounmpo, “We’re all together having fun.”

The group often practice wrestling moves in the tunnel of Fiserv arena before games. Giannis could be seen demolishing Robin Lopez just a few meters away from the eyes of the fans. Their moves have recently gone viral on the internet.
