The Miami Heat finally managed to overcome the Boston Celtics in Game 7 on Monday, booking their spot in the NBA Finals. While they will be happy with the victory, they’ll probably be wondering how the series came to this point. One Miami star certainly would have faced extreme abuse had the Heat not managed to win, especially considering how his missed shots became a major talking point after Game 6. Ahead of the matchup with the Denver Nuggets, he opened up on the missed shots and how it led to him imitating the iconic Hulk Hogan in Game 7.
According to the network’s official website, Jimmy Butler-led Heat’s impressive 103-84 victory became the most-watched NBA Eastern Conference Finals Game ever, with a staggering 11.9 million viewers tuning in. It was certainly a series of memorable moments.

During the Heat’s strong performance in the fourth quarter against Boston, Duncan Robinson delivered a memorable moment for the fans. After scoring a layup and forcing a Celtics timeout, Robinson taunted the Boston fans with a hand gesture. His unexpected trash-talking even became a popular meme. The 29-year-old sharpshooter held his hand to his ear like the iconic wrestler Hulk Hogan to taunt the Boston fans.
Robinson recently made an appearance on J.J. Redick’s podcast The Old Man and the Three. Co-host Tommy Alter asked the Miami Heat star to reveal the backstory behind his taunting of Celtics fans. He explained that it was not an intended act. However, it was rather triggered by being added to a group chat of Celtics fans by someone he went to high school with.
The Miami Heat forward said: ?My number got put in a group chat somewhere, it was a massive group chat. So after we lose Game 6, my phone is blowing up from all these random New England numbers. They?re sending me memes of the Curt Schilling bloody sock.”
He continued, “I’m also like pissed because of the bone-crushing loss…I’m really worked up about it like, ‘Who the f**k gave my number?’…I’m like creating all these scenarios in my head. If I go the Garden, I’m doing something and I didn’t know what it was gonna be.” He was indeed successful in getting under the skin of Boston fans as they called his act “classless”.
Duncan Robinson can play a crucial role in the Finals
New England native and Heat forward/shooting guard Duncan Robinson’s remarkable NBA journey has gone only up. From an undrafted free agent to a key player on a $90 million contract, Robinson faced his childhood team in a high-stakes NBA Playoffs battle. Now he will play his second NBA Finals in his fourth season for the Miami franchise.
While the Miami Heat’s NBA journey continues toward the championship, Duncan Robinson showcases his prowess as one of the league’s elite three-point shooters. Robinson excelled in the 2020 Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers but fell short of the championship. However, Robinson now has the opportunity to seize every chance with the championship on the line.
