James Harden is one of the NBA’s premier stars. The former MVP was the frontman for the Houston Rockets and an important piece of the big three in Brooklyn prior to the trade deadline. On deadline day, the Nets traded him and Paul Millsap to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Andre Drummond, and two first-round draft picks. This was an exciting moment for the ‘Beard’ who wanted out of Brooklyn due to the increased load after Durant’s injury and Irving’s away game availability.

Harden’s arrival in Philadelphia meant that Embiid would finally have a strong partner to join him and Tobias Harris on the roster. Most recently, Harden was seen practicing at the 76ers facility along with Tyrese Maxey. While the ‘Beard’ was easily knocking down three-point shots, Maxey looked nervous and relatively inefficient as compared to Harden.

James Harden and Tyrese Maxey Engage in Shooting Practice

Dressed in blue, Harden was seen at the Sixers practice for the first time since the trade. The NBA star took part in a shooting practice alongside Tyrese Maxey.

Knocking down three-pointers off-the-dribble is an easy task for the ‘Beard’. We’ve seen him do it plenty of times while playing for the Houston Rockets and the Brooklyn Nets. So it was no surprise that Harden was making these shots during the Sixers practice as well. On the other hand, Maxey looked shaky as compared to Harden and wasn’t as consistent either. However, playing with a star has its benefits. Maybe Harden will take Maxey under his wing and mold him into a strong player for the Sixers.

The addition of Harden to the 76ers roster was a blockbuster deal for Philly. It meant that Embiid could finally share the load with a star who knows how to succeed in the league. Furthermore, like Simmons, Harden can also make crucial plays and involve his teammates in the game. Additionally, Harden’s scoring ability makes him fit into the hole left by Simmons, with ease. We could potentially see the Houston Rockets version of James Harden come back to life.

Added to this, we may even see Harden and Embiid engage in lobs and powerful dunks. This was the case with Harden and Clint Capela in Houston as well. But Embiid brings additional strength, shooting, and defense to the table, as compared to Capela. Moreover, the Harden-Embiid duo will also have Tobias Harris to help them out. Clearly, the sky is the limit for the 76ers this season.
