Joey Chestnut ate 62 hot dogs in ‘Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Competition’ to win the event for the 16th time in the last 17 years. Hailed as the “Glizzy Gladiator” by Cade Cunningham, Joey also received a shoutout from the Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young.

NBA athletes have intense training routines and strict diet plans to keep them in shape for a long NBA season. However, everyone gets an exception on the 4th of July. Trae Young celebrated the 4th of July with one of the oldest traditions in the country, barbecues. The 2-time All-Star showed a platter of hot dogs set on a table in his Instagram story, captioning it “S/o Joey“. Trae Young was later heard saying “Shoutout Joey man. It’s one of them days“, on his Instagram story.
The hilarious story, however, was not the first reaction that came from an NBA player in the wake of ?Joey Chestnut’s historic win. Former No.1 pick Cade Cunningham was also thoroughly impressed by Joey’s incredible feat. The Detroit Pistons guard hailed Joey as the “Glizzy Gladiator” on his Instagram live video earlier in the day.

The shoutout and moniker are hilarious. But the respect NBA stars have for Chestnut seems real.

Joey Chestnut is simply incredible when it comes to eating competitions. Admiration from celebrities across the world is nothing new to him.

The 39-year-old has won the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Competition 16 times in the past 17 years. This year marks his 7th consecutive victory in the event. He also holds the 10 highest totals in the event as well as the record that he set in 2021 of 76 hot dogs eaten.

Joey’s efforts in this year’s competition were no less than a pageantry of gluttony. He devoured 62 hot dogs in just 10 minutes in an extraordinary effort to once again take home the Mustard Belt. The undisputed champion, however, does not discriminate. Joey holds Major League Eating records in 55 different categories including chicken wings, Krystal Burgers, pulled pork sandwiches and even Twinkies!
