The Boston Celtics have been one of the best teams in the league this season. After a disappointing Finals loss against the Golden State Warriors last year, the Celtics were in the midst of a major controversy surrounding former coach Ime Udoka. Despite all that, the Celtics are now one of the first few teams to clinch a playoff spot and are likely to finish in the top-3 of the Eastern Conference. However, Jayson Tatum and company had a poor showing away from home against the Utah Jazz, which prompted a very harsh take from controversial tennis star Nick Kyrgios.

The reigning Eastern Conference champions started the game strongly and took an early lead. However, the Jazz, who are fighting for a play-in spot, stayed in the game. Utah eventually won the game 118-117 much to the agony of Celtics fans around the world, including Nick Kyrgios.

Jayson Tatum had a poor outing against the Utah Jazz and scored just 15 points despite playing 39 minutes, the most in the team. It was just not Tatum’s day as he made just 4 of 12 from the field and just 3 of 8 from the three-point territory. However, teammate Grant Williams more than compensated for Tatum’s misfiring. Williams, who is averaging just over 8 points per game, scored 23 points and came close to breaking his career high of 25.

Jaylen Brown had a decent game with a team-high 25 points. Also, Malcolm Brogdon pitched in with 16 points off the bench. However, the Boston Celtics’ collective effort was not enough to stop the determined Jazz.

Lauri Markkanen continued his good form and scored a team-high 28 points with 10 rebounds, and 3 assists. Former Celtics player Kelly Olynyk also had a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. The Jazz big men dominated the boards 56-40 which arguably led to the win. The Celtics had the lead for the most part of the game. But they had a poor final few minutes which allowed the Jazz to come back and win it.

Nick Kyrgios was not happy with the loss

Tennis superstar Nick Kyrgios is a huge Boston Celtics fan and has been seen multiple times wearing Celtics apparel. Interestingly, he has Celtics with the Shamrock logo on his Twitter bio as well. Like most fans, Kyrgios was not happy with the result against the Utah Jazz. He vented his frustration and especially lamented the last five minutes of the game with a controversial tweet, “Could be the worst 5 minutes of Celtic basketball I?ve ever watched.” However, some fans were not impressed with this. Here are some of their reactions:

With this latest win the Utah Jazz are still hopeful about landing a play-in spot. However, it is not entirely in their hands as they want the teams above them to slip up a bit as well.
