The improbable is never impossible – so proved the Miami Heat tonight. Their resilience was on full display as they beat the Boston Celtics in their very own palace. Jimmy Butler has probably been the best player in the postseason and his star continues to rise with each memorable performance. Despite the lack of recognition the 33-year-old often gets, sports stars are well aware of his prowess. That was evident to see when the 6x NBA All-Star showed up at the Miami Open a couple of months ago and left tennis stars star-struck. However, Butler was on the other side of the coin this time after meeting a TV legend ahead of Game 2.

As always, Butler led from the front, scoring buckets, challenging defenders, and stepping up when most needed. He was locked in the entire night for one mission. However, before putting on the Miami Red, he shared a wholesome moment with one of the NBA’s most respected personalities.

Butler was unloading his bags, getting ready to engage in a Game 2 battle against the Celtics. After the Game 1 win, he was rather positive, radiating an aura of confidence. That’s when an unexpected guest came to greet him. It was NBA on TNT host, Ernie Johnson. The TNT announcer’s voice is one basketball fans and NBA superstars know very well. The Emmy award-winning broadcaster had praise for the 6x All-Star.

“Thank you,” said Butler as he shared a moment with Johnson. But that was just moments before he would turn into a child. Ironically enough, it was Jimmy Butler who seemed to have a fan moment. The Miami Heat star leaped in joy just knowing Ernie Johnson knew who he was.

“Ran into a legend today. He knows who I am!” yelled the 33-year-old with his clenched fists waving in celebration.

Generally, it is Butler who leaves some of the biggest athletes star-struck. Two tennis stars, in particular, felt the nerves when they saw the 33-year-old in the stands in March. “Jimmy Butler is here, so I was a little bit nervous when I saw him,” said Coco Gauff when he watched her play at the Miami Open.

Even World Number 2 Carlos Alcaraz couldn’t believe the likes of Butler liked watching him play, as reported by Tennis Up To Date. “I feel a little bit nervous when I see a person like Jimmy [Butler], celebrities, when I was playing, like, in the US Open…In certain ways, I can’t believe that these people enjoy watching my matches for me. It’s crazy,” said the 2022 US Open Champion.

His energy, his efforts, and his hunger transpired in his teammates, who didn’t let Butler do the job alone. Bam Adebayo had a monster impact in the watershed moments, scrapping and battling for every possession. The Miami Heat’s incredible journey from being a play-in team to now being only two wins away from the Finals is a stuff of legends in itself. A story that Ernie Johnson might just love bringing to the fans at home with his distinctive voice.
