Michael Jordan Video Pushed EPL Stars into Putting the Final Nail in the Coffin for Arsenal’s Title Hopes

Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan has always been a source of inspiration for numerous NBA aspirants. Most of the contemporary NBA stars have grown up idolizing His Airness. Turns out, MJ has not only motivated basketball players but has also instilled in a bunch of soccer players a zeal to win. On Sunday, in the English Premier League, Brighton & Hove Albion gave Arsenal their biggest blow of this season. Interestingly, Michael Jordan’s legacy played a bizarre role in Brighton’s victory.

With a 3-0 loss against Brighton, the Gunners’ title hopes look bleak. Brighton players, however, owe a part of their commanding win to the NBA legend Michael Jordan. Before locking horns with the London-based club, Brighton players came across a video of His Airness.

Michael Jordan inspired Brighton stars

The last time Arsenal won the English Premier League was in the 2003-04 season, during the Arsene Wenger era. However, the underwhelming years since then became a story of the past as Arsenal started to lead the title race this season. Earlier this month, the reigning champions, Manchester City, replaced Arsenal as the front runners in the title race. Arsenal has had chances to reclaim the position. Things, however, have turned for the worse for Arsenal.

Sunday’s Arsenal-Brighton matchup was very crucial for Arsenal to keep their title hopes alive. Brighton, however, made a mockery of the title contenders and beat them 3-0. As things stand now, Manchester City will claim the title with just one more win in their remaining 3 matches. In an interview with Sky Sports, scorer Deniz Undav revealed that a video of Michael Jordan had motivated the Brighton players to outsmart the Gunners on Sunday.

The interviewer asked Undav if Brighton’s manager, Roberto De Zerbi, told something particular to him before the game. He said, “Not to me, but to the whole team. He showed us a video from a famous person,” Undav said. The interviewer immediately asked him who it was. “Michael Jordan. Showed us how he got motivated. How he[Michael Jordan] motivated himself after every game, each game.”

Notably, Brighton had lost 1-5 against Everton just a few days ago and the manager showed them the video to motivate them for this big test. “He[De Zerbi] showed us after the defeat against Everton. I think it was the right choice to show us a video like this and I think we showed today how we got prepared and how mentally strong we are,” Deniz Undav added.
