The GOAT debate in sports is a never-ending one. However, that does not stop fans, analysts, or even the stars themselves from talking about it. When it comes to the NBA, Michael Jordan and LeBron James are two names that have been consistently in the GOAT debate in the past few years. Recently, James’ agent Rich Paul was asked about his pick for the GOAT of the NBA. And he had an interesting response, where he called out analysts. A former NFL star has now given his take on the agent’s reaction.

Paul recently made an appearance on a Twitch live stream with Kai Cenat, during which Kai asked him about the GOAT of the NBA. He noted that Jordan transcended the game of basketball and James brought consistency to it. However, he was not happy with the older generation not giving enough credit to LeBron.

During the live stream, Rich Paul said that when the debate is about LeBron James vs. Michael Jordan, most analysts say Jordan is the GOAT because of his six titles. Paul argued that if it was about rings, then Bill Russell should be considered the GOAT. The agent then noted that LeBron has made the NBA Finals 10 times in his 19-year career.

He added that the older generation never gives his client credit for his achievements. NFL veteran Marcellus Wiley has now given his thoughts about Paul’s comments about the analysts on TV. The former Defensive End sided with Paul’s argument and suggested he had a valid point about Russell and then the Finals appearances of James.

Wiley showed his frustration with some analysts who deny considering anyone else as the GOAT just because they grew up watching a great player. He said, “Why should I trust your opinion then if you closed the book after this guy was done? You imagine, if me, track and field, my favorite sport, y’all know it, ‘Oh after Jesse Owens it’s a wrap. Come on. Jesse Owens. Stop it. Nobody else gonna touch him.’ Well, Carl Lewis has something to say about that, right? Usain Bolt has something to say about that, right?”

The former Buffalo Bills star compared legends like Jesse Owens, Carl Lewis, and Usain Bolt to make his point that one has to evolve and be open as an analyst in sports. He then talked about Kendrick Perkins causing some controversy with his comments about Nikola Jokic winning two straight MVP awards. NBA legend Charles Barkley expressed his disagreement about the comment recently as well.
