LeBron James tweeted a post tonight regarding the NFL quarterback, Deshaun Watson. The tweet has not been received well, owing to the controversies surrounding Watson lately. The NBA Twitter expressed their disbelief online. One fan even wrote, “Thought he was hacked…No way this is real”.

Deshaun Watson had been suspended for more than half the season for alleged sexual assault. The NFL star was reeling under two dozen civil lawsuits.

The NBA champion wrote, “Yessir D Watson!! Another one. That boy getting his rhythm back!“. LeBron’s tweet has come under scrutiny with basketball fans in shock. Many fans called out the player for his treatment of Jerry Jones and Deshaun Watson.

LeBron James, before supporting the Cleveland Browns, cheered for the Dallas Cowboys. Last year, he had revealed the shift in allegiances owing to how Jerry Jones, the general manager for the Cowboys, handled the national anthem protests.

LeBron said that it was not “appropriate” for the front office to restrict people from kneeling, and hindering “freedom of speech”. Jones had indeed given a stern warning to his players, stating that if they “disrespected the flag”, they would be taken off the team.

LeBron James also came under harsh criticism from former NBA player, Enes Freedom, for not having a stance on social issues, particularly the human rights issues in China. It has cost Enes Freedom his career. But that has only added more fuel to the fire.

Enes Kanter Freedom spoke to Tim Bontemps two years back. He said, “I don’t know if he’s educated enough, but I’m here to educate him and I’m here to help him“. He said athletes in a powerful position like LeBron need to “stand up for the things they believe in“.
