The Boston Celtics were among the eight teams that kick-started the ’23 playoffs on April 15. After the heartbreaking loss in the Finals last year, the Celtics maintained their status as one of the top-contending teams this season. As they begin their journey to the Championship again, Celtics fans have a lot riding on the team, but probably not as much as a particular NFL legend. If things go south, then the veteran athlete might just end up losing a huge sum of money this season.

The Celtics played Game 1 of their playoff series against the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday night at TD Garden. In contrast to the Defending Champions Golden State Warriors’ loss, the Celtics concluded the night with a comfortable 13-point victory over the Hawks.

About two months ago, former NFL wide receiver Julian Edelman established his immense faith in Jayson Tatum‘s Celtics with a sports wager. The former New England Patriots star bet an enormous sum of money on WynnBET and if things go in his favor, he could win $50,600.

During an interview with NBC Sports, he had informed, “I’ve got a big future, $11,000 on the Celtics to win the NBA championship. Let’s go Celtics.”

Following that, Edelman recently took to Twitter just hours before the Celtics vs Hawks game to share a post about the team that could win him big bucks.

His tweet read,Trust in your teammates. When one is down everyone else pick them up. Time to get to work. #GoCs @WynnBET”

Game 1 of the Celtics’ playoff series against the Atlanta Hawks ended with a win. Boston scored 112 against the Hawks’ 99 with Jaylen Brown dropping a game-high 29 points, 12 rebounds, and three assists. NBA star forward Tatum added 25 games, 11 rebounds, and two assists.

Hawks’ Trae Young scored 16 points, three rebounds, and eight assists. Whereas, Dejounte Murray scored 24 points and eight rebounds. Both teams will be facing each other again in Game 2 on April 18 at the Celtics’ home court.
