It was certainly an exciting moment for both actress Gabrielle Union and NBA star Dwyane Wade when they tied the knot back in 2014. For Union, however, it was her second marriage, and she was slightly nervous about entering another marriage.
In fact, Union made Wade sign a prenuptial agreement before the marriage. According to her memoir ‘We’re Going to Need More Wine’, she shared various aspects of her life. She also shared her troubles during her first marriage with retired NFL running back Chris Howard.

Union also detailed the things she ignored during her first marriage in order not to repeat that mistake. According to the book, she states: “My team and I were adamant that we have a prenup to protect myself because I got taken to the cleaners in my first marriage.”
Additionally, during an interview in 2014, she discussed their current situation and the prenup agreement. “For this marriage, the biggest difference between this and the last marriage will be a prenup,” she explained.
She explained further by mentioning: “When you have your own stuff, you don’t need to worry about anyone else’s stuff. So everyone should go into the relationship knowing, ‘I’m here for you and you’re here for me'”. Union too was adamant about signing a prenup with the 3x NBA champion because of the trauma she suffered with an ex-NFL Star.
However, in the end, they came to an agreement on the terms and decided to get married and start their beautiful journey together.

During their dating years, they had some issues that caused them to take a break. Notably, Dwyane Wade had a child with another woman during that break.
Union said having just family members present for the wedding was a beautiful part of their ceremony and marriage. Additionally, in her book, she recounts several IVF treatments and miscarriages that she went through. In spite of all of these adversities, they remained united and supported each other through thick and thin.
