The NBA stands as one of the most popular basketball leagues in the world. The popularity of the league grew multifold and attained global reach during the 80s. Since then, the bigwigs of America and other countries have loosened their purses on the league. In return, the salary cap and league revenue have skyrocketed to a new high. Another wave of financial kingpins and former NFL superstar Tom Brady have turned their heads toward basketball, this time for a more righteous reason.

It’s a usual sight to witness sporting superstars investing in teams across sports. Michael Jordan could arguably be the pioneering factor in this after his investment with the Charlotte Hornets. However, MJ’s decision on the Hornets’ investment hasn’t been a sweet memory for the legend. Moreover, several reports suggested that he could sell the team. Even the Lakers legend Magic Johnson has invested in multiple teams in different leagues. And now, the WNBA is receiving the much-needed boost.

Despite the popularity of the game, WNBA hasn’t attained global success like the NBA since its launch in 1996. The fans and media often debated over the rising pay gap and viewership ratio between both leagues. However, as a promising sign, the league’s popularity and revenue could now see a new height as well. NFL icon Tom Brady has acquired a share in the WNBA team Las Vegas Aces. Notably, the Aces are the defending champions of the league led by Kelsey Plum.

Dell CEO, Michael Dell and the widow of Apple co-founder, Laurene Powell Jobs previously made a massive monetary pumping into the league.
