During the game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes channelized his inner Michael Jordan for a touchdown play which left NBA fans in a frenzy.

Michael Jordan soared up high from the free throw line, extended his arms, and dunked the ball in. This was his signature play – a play that people continue to replicate. Perfecting this play would require an individual to have the skill set of the six-time NBA champion. However, people don’t refrain from attempting this dunk routine. Having said that, on Sunday, Patrick Mahomes tried the Chicago Bulls legend’s signature dunk during a touchdown play.

Patrick Mahomes channelizes inner Michael Jordan

The Kansas City Chiefs took on the Cincinnati Bengals in their Sunday Night Football clash. In the 3rd quarter, the scoreboard was tied at 17 points each, and Patrick Mahomes was in possession of the ball. Instead of passing, Mahomes swiftly ran past the Bengals’ defense, jumped up in the air, and slammed the ball toward the red zone for a touchdown.

From the looks of it, Mahomes seemed to have fumbled it at first. However, while executing the Michael Jordan dunk-like play, Mahomes seemed to have held onto the ball. Following this play, the broadcaster Tony Romo yelled, “He did the Michael Jordan.” Since Patrick Mahomes is a huge fan of basketball, it should be no surprise that he tried to dunk while playing football.

NBA fans, in particular, were in awe of this play. They took to Twitter to express their feelings. Fans were quick to point out that Mahomes had done a Michael Jordan and addressed him as “Air Mahomes”. Many fans replied to the video with gifs and clips of the 14-time NBA All-Star. Fans also pointed out that Mahomes “does something wild like this, every, damn, game.” Some called Mahomes to be the best player in the league while also voting for him to be the MVP of the season.

Despite Mahomes’ incredible play, the Kansas City Chiefs ended up losing the game by just 3 points, with a final score of 24-27 to the Cincinnati Bengals.
