Retirement usually means stepping back from your work life and moving on to the next phase of your life. In the sports world, for some it might mean stepping away from the game and into a studio, like NBA legends Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley, amongst others. However, many star athletes have come out of their retirement and returned to the field or court. While Michael Jordan came back to play twice before finally retiring for good the third time, Tom Brady also couldn’t stay away from the field for too long, as he came back months after announcing his first retirement.

Tom Brady made headlines a couple of years ago when he announced his retirement from professional football. Fans were disappointed initially, but that soon turned into a pleasant surprise when the player unexpectedly returned to the league to play another season. However, his retirement this time seems to be the final one, and Shaquille O’Neal made a firm remark on the possibility of Brady “unretiring”.

While NFL fans take in the news, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal had something to say about the rumors in the latest episode of his podcast. The episode touched base to discuss the rumored ‘unretirement.’ All three hosts reacted differently to the news. Spice, right off the bat, seemed to be over the whole fiasco and repeatedly said, “it’s not true.”

While Nischelle Turner raised the possibility of the speculation being true since Brady had done it before. As soon as Turner revealed that Brady wasn’t planning on coming back due to his cat, Shaq hilariously blurted out, “meow” which left all three of them in splits.

O’Neal made his opinion about Brady coming back very clear with three words. He asked Brady to “cut it out.” O’Neal also stated that Brady wasn’t coming back. The Los Angeles Lakers legend seemed pretty confident about his comments and firmly believed that the seven-time Super Bowl winner won’t come out of retirement anytime soon.

Coming out of retirement didn’t work out well for Tom Brady

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback’s return did not bode well for his personal life. His wife, Gisele Bündchen, parted ways with him after his decision to come out of retirement. Not only that, but he faced many challenges on the field during the season.

The comeback season also saw an initial drop in the quarterback’s form on the field. This resulted in the Buccaneers falling into a series of losses. While Brady still led his team to win the NFC South title, they lost in the Wildcard Playoffs.
