Ever since arrival the arrival of Zion Williamson in the NBA, fans have been aching to see the 22-year-old in the dunk contest. Williamson has shown his crazy athleticism for years now. Not just the NBA buffs, but Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant also believes Williamson must participate in the dunk contest. While the New Orleans Pelicans star hasn’t taken part in the contest till now, fans’ dreams might turn into reality soon. Despite playing just 29 games this season, Zion recently revealed his plans for the All-Star dunk contest.?
Occupying a play-in spot, the New Orleans Pelicans and their fans continue to miss the young forward during these crucial times. The NBA world hopes Williamson will be back for the postseason. However, that might not happen as soon as some are expecting.

With a vertical of forty-five inches, there is no doubt Zion can fly. The 6’6 tall, 284-pound forward is a dominant force for the Pelicans. Both offensively and defensively, Williamson has been an asset for the team. Averaging 26 points, 7 rebounds and 4.6 assists in 29 games this season, Williamson proved his worth to the team. Moreover, he was also selected as an All-Star starter this season before an injury forced him to step away from the basketball court.?
A hamstring injury against the Philadelphia 76ers in January put the youngster out for a prolonged period. Anyhow, that did not stop Williamson from making plans for his future. In a recent interview, the 22-year-old was asked, “I was listening to Kevin Durant’s podcast…he mentioned your name actually when talking about the dunk contest…Is that something you would ever consider doing?”
Williamson replied,?“I wouldn’t just consider doing it, but Imma take a heavy consideration doing it. I feel like if I am to get a dunk contest, I’ll probably do it within the next two years,” assuring his possible participation. Kevin Durant believes Ja Morant and Zion Williamson’s participation in the dunk contest is what the fans want. However, only time shall let us know if that miracle can happen.

Pelican’s position without Zion Williamson
Though his absence has dragged the team down, Brandon Ingram and co. continue to keep their playoff dream alive. Standing as the 8th seed, the Pelicans’ chances of making the play-in increased after Sunday’s results. However, they will need Williamson if they want to make noise in the postseason.
