There was a time Klay Thompson was arguably the best two-way player on the planet. A sharpshooter alongside Stephen Curry, the splash brothers were a lethal backcourt. Thompson was a perennial All-Star. However, things would turn around in 2019. The 32-year-old suffered an ACL injury in the NBA Finals that would keep him out of action for almost two whole seasons. Questions arose over the changed Klay Thompson once he returns. In retrospect, the injuries have surely weighed him down. But the five-time All-Star seems to be getting the sensation of his powers once again.

Thompson and Steph Curry paired up for one of the most lethal backcourts in NBA history. Before bravely walking off the floor in 2019, Klay Thompson’s career was going upstream. He ranks as one of the best shooters to ever play the game of basketball. Despite being the third option on a historic roster, the former three-point contest winner was averaging 21.5 points while shooting 40% from three.
Unfortunately, the barrage of injuries took a toll on his production on the court. After a taxing Finals last season, Thompson has started this season looking even slower. However, he recently gave fans his reassurance.
Fans question the durability of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson pairing
This season, Thompson has rather looked like a mere shadow of himself. With young talents such as Jordan Poole stepping up in the Golden State Warriors camp, the five-time All-Star’s impact has visibly dimmed. In 11 games so far, the splash brother has only put on 14.7 points all while shooting a subpar 33% from three. TNT analyst Charles Barkley showed Thompson the present mirror. He said Thompson is not the same player he was back in 2018. However, the Warriors shooting guard isn’t one to give up hope.
Klay Thompson recently proclaimed, “I promise you it?s coming”. But the fans seemed to disagree with the 32-year-old. Here are some of the reactions on social media.

Despite not being where he once was, Klay Thompson’s return story is a feat of its own. His mental toughness is commendable. In addition, he has the trust of Stephen Curry and all his other teammates. We probably won’t see him go scorching hot and score 37 points in a single quarter and hit 14 threes in a single game. However, with his resolve, it sure doesn’t look like Thompson is ready to accept his shortcomings.
The four-time champion is not new to slander, and previously it has had little to no effect on Thompson. The Warriors might only be hoping for one thing, to have Klay Thompson find his rhythm soon. The reigning champions desperately need their five-time All-Star to start firing once again. However, their hopes can only be answered by one man, Klay Thompson himself.
