The 2021-22 NBA season has just begun and the trash-talking has already begun. We usually see this phase in the more vital games but it seems like players are going all out already. But for former teammates to be involved? Who would have thunk? Washington Wizards played the Boston Celtics tonight, dragging the game to overtime until the Wizards 115-112 victory. However, seeing Montrezl Harrell bash his former Lakers’ teammate and now Celtics’ Dennis Schroder with words, was not something anyone was expecting.
Did Montrezl Harrel insult Dennis Schroder?
The Washington Wizards are having quite a start to the new season and extended their winning streak to three games after defeating the Boston Celtics. Much like last season, the Celtics seem to be struggling to keep their head above the water. Despite their contrasting status right now, Schroder and Harrell had one thing in common. They both had awful tenures with the Lakers.

With the purple and gold forming their super team, they traded both these players off. While Dennis Schroder landed up with the Celtics, Montrezl Harrell, along with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and Kyle Kuzma, came to the Wizards. This was pulled off in five-way trade to send Russell Westbrook to the Lakers.
So, this is the first time they faced each other since they parted ways. It was just the first quarter, but Montrezl didn’t really waste any time trying to tell Dennis how he felt. He defeated him in the post for a layup. While Harrell started moving back to his end, it seemed like he shouted, “You’re trash” to his former teammate.

Harrell wasn’t too pleased with the Lakers

It isn’t new information that Harrell did not have the best time playing for the Lakers. When Anthony Davis and LeBron James got injured, Schroder and Harrell were forced to take up bigger responsibilities that they probably weren’t capable of handling. This led to Frank Vogel decreasing Montrezl’s role in the rotation, which the former Sixth Man of the Year wasn’t pleased with.
In fact, Harrell did not hide his disappointment either. And it seems like he found the perfect opportunity to take out some of his anger towards the team and channel it towards Dennis.
Fortunately for him, it seems like he has adjusted pretty well with his new team. And seems to have found his mojo that has kept the Wizards name atop in the East. But clearly, it’ll take a while before he can get rid of his saltiness towards his former team.
