Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has been involved in sports pretty much his entire life. He was introduced to basketball while he was very young by his father.

Steph’s father, Dell, was an NBA player himself and he trained both his sons to become NBA stars. Stephen Curry’s sister, Sydel was also involved in sports for quite some time.

She played volleyball like her mother. However, she decided against following in her family’s footsteps. Sydel Cury is now an influencer and a mental health activist.

During an interview, she talked about growing up in a family full of sporting superstars. According to Sydel, she has been underestimated by people her whole life. In fact, they often credited all her success to the influence her family commanded.

Sydel revealed, “People underestimating me is pretty much my life, from the moment I started playing sports to now. I remember one of the first things I ever heard when I was playing volleyball is like, ‘you’re only here because of your family.'”

In spite of such comments, Sydel Curry always aspired to create her own identity separate from her family. In other words, she works hard to build a name of her own. She’s not interested in always being remembered as ‘Steph Curry’s sister.’

It is not only her brothers who are NBA stars. Sydel is married to Damion Lee of the Golden State Warriors. Apart from playing for Steph’s team, he happens to be a close friend of the four-time NBA champion.

Stephen Curry belongs to a family of sporting superstars

The Golden State Warriors legend was phenomenal in basketball from a young age. His father, Dell Curry played in the NBA, and Steph’s brother Seth is an NBA star too.

Moreover, Curry’s mother, Sonya, also pursued volleyball and basketball in college. Despite all the stardom in his family, Stephen Curry is undeniably the most successful.

He has four NBA titles to his name with the Warriors. Moreover, he won his first Finals MVP award this year which completed his elite trophy cabinet.
