After a playoff entry last season, the Minnesota Timberwolves have struggled with consistency so far in the 2022-23 season. The Timberwolves hoped to have a better performance this season after acquiring Rudy Gobert from the Utah Jazz for Malik Beasley, Patrick Beverley, a pick swap, four first-round picks and other options. However, despite the massive move, the Timberwolves currently have a 19-21 record in the first half of the season. Luckily for Minnesota, Gobert had his best outing of the season on Friday Night against the short-staffed Los Angeles Clippers. The three-time Defensive Player of the Year scored 25 points, with 21 rebounds and three blocks to bring his team a 128-115 victory. However, Gobert’s honest realization about his own performance this season after the game has prompted brutal trolling from NBA fans on social media.
After the game, Gobert took responsibility for his comparatively slower start to this season after joining the Timberwolves. However, he ended up making a bold claim about himself, that drew some sarcastic responses from fans on Twitter.

In a post-game interview with The Athletic, Rudy Gobert proclaimed, ?I don?t think we?ve seen the best Rudy yet. I?ve been putting in a lot of work. My teammates are sticking with me. The coaching staff is sticking with me. And I know that it?s going to pay off.?
Gobert referred to himself in third person while suggesting that his best version was yet to come. He was positive about his future performances and acknowledged the efforts of his teammates. However, the comment about his ‘best version’ drew a shocking response from the fans, who deemed it to be a hollow claim and a bluff.

The fans on Twitter reacted to Gobert’s comment about his performance sarcastically. Some of the fans harped on the fact that the three-time All-Star addressed himself in ‘third person’ while others found his realization quite funny and absurd.
Rudy Gobert this season
In 34 appearances for Minnesota Timberwolves, Rudy Gobert has averaged 13.9 points, 11.9 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, and 1.7 TOV. Unfortunately, Gobert has lacked the efficient defensive skills he is known for. His 1.4 blocks per game this season are less than his career blocks average of 2.2.
